Thoughts? I got target gift cards again. I feel like this was a couple weeks ago? I know week of the young child was last month and we did a teacher appreciation lunch.

• A special note to say Thank you • Gift Cards (any amount) • Food for Pot Luck on Friday May 8th • Breakfast Goods for Monday May 4th • Small Gifts for Raffle • Cards (made from your child) Monday May 4th- Flowers • Treats through out the week • Any other items you might be able to think of!!
The above is the list of what we are supposed to bring throughout the week. It's a lot, I'm sorry. And right now we are transitioning rooms so I feel like I'm supposed to bring it for 8 teachers plus the aides that rotate back and forth. My only saving grace is that we skip Mondays and Fridays so I won't participate in those days. I'll bake tonight a big batch of cupcakes and try and pull off some giftcards. I have no idea what to do about the raffle.
Honestly, as a teacher (granted, I teach high school) a nice note or email is enough to say thanks. If you have to get something then I would stick with a gift card. It's definitely nice but I don't think most teachers expect anything. That being said, our PTA is awesome and giving us treats all week. I will definitely indulge since I'm pg but I would get tired of it after a couple days if I wasn't.
xanthepants, that seems like a lot of stuff to do to say thanks.
Hmmm...I get wanting the teachers to feel appreciated, but the fact that it's coming from the director seems off to me. Grateful parents are able to show their appreciation on their own. Seems more meaningful to me that way.

I was thankful for the reminder that it actually was Teacher appreciation week - yes. And I'm fine with a bit of organization about a certain day for potlucky sort of stuff yes. But it seems like a lot. I generally always did giftcards and a thank you card from Coco. I've made treats and brought them in on oddball Fridays because Coco likes to bake and I hate having all the sweets in the house - so we just run them back over to daycare and drop them off. This director is special if you ask me - she is super unorganized and this is just reason #62 that proves it. The email came out Friday of last week so it doesn't surprise me.

traceyt07, Our DC does a similar list, with a theme every day. They say do all or none, it is up to the parents. I usually do all or at least 4 days. Those DC ladies work hard. I know I could not handle all those toddlers every day. We celebrated this a couple of months ago so I am just going to ring donuts for them tomorrow.
xanthepants, I prefer coffee but that is because I drink coffee. Or restaurant. Something I don't normally get myself but would really appreciate if I had a gift card. In my mind groceries and gas are something that I have to buy anyway and I've already budgeted for, dinner out is a treat and I think it would be more appreciated. That could just be me though. I think that is even worse coming from a director.
In general, any nice thank you is appreciated. It is my job to be a teacher so kind of consider it a tip for the year. I get paid like everyone else but it is nice to hear that your work isn't going unnoticed. I don't see any reason to go over the top. We don't have doctor appreciation day or architect appreciation day, etc.
xanthepants I like the Visa gift cards the best when I get them as gifts because it means I can use them for anything. Second to that would be Target, Starbucks/coffee, or Amazon.

tribute17 actually doctors day is march 30th . Our hospital has a big thing. Pie is actually what we do for them. Its kind of weird, but fun. They usually take a whole bunch of them and give them to the nurses anyways.
Anyways, this week is also nurses week and the hospital does 99% of the work. Some patients pick up on the festivities and are nicer to us. Thursday the doctors all serve us free lunch, Wednesday is free breakfast, there are awards and prizes, we get our hands blessed and massages. Our hospital shits on us a lot so the praise is appreciated. I think teachers also deserve the praise. You guys work hard!
So many teachers go in and out of Ts room. So im getting bagels and cream cheese and bringing it one morning. T is the first one there so it should work out fine. I will make a little note for his favorite teacher.

C's preschool does an appreciation tea on Friday. I'll attend that with her and we'll get her teacher and volunteer aids a flower, card, and gift certificate to our local ice cream place.
