Toddler Bed---I'm sure this has been asked before

Has anyone converted yet?  LM still won't sleep in his crib, but he loves his cot at daycare.  DH wants to convert.  Do we buy that fancy rail?  I'm tempted to just put the mattress on the ground.

We aren't even thinking about it. We were pretty late to the game converting our son to a bed though.

I've actually had my eye on toddler beds. . Though I have a conversion crib. But I can't even kick this kid out of my bed so I dunno why I'm even bothering

mishkaroni we were thinking he doesn't like being confined in the crib, so maybe fingers crossed if he had more freedom he would lay down and not act like his crib is killing him.

leopardgurl831 I see we are of the same mind. But girl won't hop off my boob. Plus. . . She can almost open doors. Or she can like 30% of the time. :/

I feel like I have a lot of toddler proofing to do in his room before I move him out of his crib! Speaking of which, is it easy to anchor a dresser to the wall?

wineallthetime I think you just need to screw a couple of L brackets to the dresser and the wall

Yikes, I haven't even thought about this. V loves her crib until about 4am, and then she just usually comes to our bed until we get up.

My friend with an 18 month old went ahead and transitioned her daughter into a toddler bed because she started climbing out of the crib. She then refused to stay in the toddler bed. My friend now sleeps with her in a queen size bed in the nursery.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, it all depends on your child and the reasoning behind wanting to transition.

We have a baby gate at the door. It was originally to prevent the cats from getting in his room, but they jump that and then they jump in to the crib....

I'm really hoping that with C using the cot at daycare, we'll be lucky and the transition to toddler bed will be easy. Something tells me we won't be that lucky...

I was waiting until she is about 24 mos just because that's what I've heard is the rule of thumb...I should mention that the thought of this scares me!!

I think potty training scares me more than toddler beds.

Yep, this. Took all of 2 minutes. We did it when we moved in and I'm so glad we did...caught B trying to climb DH's nightstand earlier this week by pulling drawers out.

It's not on my radar per se but she thrashes around at night and smacks her legs/arms/head into the slats. I'm pretty sure that's responsible for most of her MOTN wake ups. Not sure if there's a work around for that
