So Elliott started feeds last Monday. It started at 3mL/3h and slowly increased the amounts but today they started him at 18mL/3h! They indicated that once he gets close to full feeds (around 25-30mL/3h), they will seriously talk about removing the PICC line. It's been taking him about 1-1.5d for his tummy to adjust to the increases but he's a trooper.
He got moved out of the giraffe isolette into a regular one. He's been slowly holding his temperature that they removed his memory foam "mattress" (helps keep heat in) and he's now dressed! He's going to be in the isolette until they lower the temp down to 26 degrees Celsius. Right now he's at 30.5 (the giraffe was set at 36.5!).
The only downside right now is that all of his systems (heartrate, breathing, pulse/ox, digestion) are competing for attention so they put the nasal cannula back on to help his lung muscles develop. They assure me that it has to do with immaturity and his small size.
He's 34w2d and almost 3.5lbs!! It sounds positive but they remind me that he could still have a setback but he seems to be hanging tough. Here are some pics, most recent ones first:
(Sorry, deleted the pics bc of the weirdo drama; when the password protected subgroup is created, E will be back! )
Baby Elliott (technically) due 6.13.2015 but born via c-section on 4.12.2015 at 31w1d after 31d of hospital arrest (think house arrest) for monitoring.
