AW Thread: Help me pick an outfit - pics in next post

Long story short: my dream department (hospice) finally has an open position that I qualify for and I have an interview on Wednesday. At the end of January I spent two days with them shadowing two of their nurses for CE credit. The manager and I got along really well and we discussed that I am pregnant and that they would have some positions opening up around April that she was hopeful I would apply for. I doubt that she remembers I'm pregnant, but either way, it will be obvious once I arrive for the interview. I have to laugh at the irony of the open position and getting an interview now when I will be 36 weeks pregnant - I've been waiting for them to post a suitable position for almost 2 years now. I say this so that those of you who are wondering why bother now, it's because this is the first opportunity I've had to apply with them. Anyway, I would normally be able to decide on an interview-appropriate outfit but I am so unsure about so much that's going on right now that some unbiased opinions on which one to wear will go a long way. And if I need to go and buy a new top I know that you will let me know. TIA!!

The burgundy top is a little on the casual side, but I think in general it is better for you to wear something that is less form fitting and I don't think you should go out and buy a new top, so I vote burgundy.

I think the burgundy top is nicer in general. The striped one is more "fun" but I don't see it as professional.

The burgundy looks way too casual and "maternity" for an interview. Whereas I've worn something very similar to the first top to court hearings (with a suit jacket over).

The striped one looks more professional than the burgundy one. And yes, can you put a blazer over it? I wore non-mat blazers to interviews while pregnant and just left them open/unbuttoned.

Stripes would be my first choice. I think a blazer or jacket would be good over it if possible as PPs suggested. Burgandy looks a little casual to me.

I vote for the stripes but with a blazer over it. As a longtime personal shopper for Dress For Success, I'd say go burgundy if you can't get your hands on a blazer. Better to be slightly causal rather than too revealing. Good luck on your interview!

I like the burgundy better even though it's a little casual, I think the stripes are a little to clingy for an interview (but awesome otherwise!)

Good luck, I'm in contact with hospice as some of my nursing home facilities and they are wonderful (I do geriatric psych).

Agree that stripes with a blazer would be the best option. Maybe even a cardigan? I love layering.

Thanks for everyone's input I agree that a blazer/jacket is in order. I didn't want to have to buy a new maternity-specific top let alone a whole new suit for one interview, but the idea of a regular blazer unbuttoned I can definitely get on-board with.

And also thanks for the hearts for our kitty - she is adorable - hairballs at 2am and all. Of our 3 cats, she is the one I am anticipating being the most maternal (after she gets over the crying and weird smell, of course).
