What I read in my anatomy report...

.. had me cringing. The MD referred to "gender" instead of "sex". If I didn't appreciate the difference between these two terms before getting pregnant, I sure do now. I want to beat him around the head with a stick  Thank goodness the US techs were using the correct terminology face to face with me yesterday or it could have turned ugly.

Hah... funny, my u/s tech also used gender. I was like, wait WHAT?!

My OB does all of my ultrasounds himself, the office doesn't use a tech at all, and I was proud when he asked if we wanted to know the 'sex' last pregnancy. Although he went on to say "girl parts" instead of using proper terminology.

My tech and dr. both said gender. I said sex in my response. Tech said boy parts. Dr. at least said scrotum!

If it weren't for TB I wouldn't be so "sensitive" about it. Honestly (and flame away) I think sometimes people make it a bigger deal than it is. With that being said bc I have been educated on the difference, whenever someone asked if we were finding out the gender I would say "we plan on finding out the sex of the baby." But I think it's common even in the medical profession for them to use gender in place of sex. Is it PC? Probably not, but not my hill to die on.
