This thread actually promoted me to ask DH point blank how he's feeling and some other labor related stuff....turns out he's ridiculously excited and I wanted to cry it was so cute!! He had the biggest grin on his face talking about it:)
No clear decision on if he wants to cut the cord or not, but he definitely wants to stay by the head of the bed, ha! Otherwise he thinks he'll be able to handle seeing me in pain (I personally don't think he will, but there's always my mom to use as a back up support person should he need a break while laboring) we'll see how it goes once we're actually in the room...only about 6 weeks to wait!
Anyone else think their DH might pass out? It's a definite possibility for mine. He passed out in middle school (a Catholic school) when they showed a video of an abortion. And when our daughter busted her lip/chin open 2 years ago, he just kind of froze from seeing all the blood, turned a little pale, and had to go sit down on the toilet while I scrambled to clean it all up and help her. So it could definitely happen. I imagine he'll be up by my head, but may be tempted to take a peek because he might regret not watching.
I am having a c-section because twin B is breech. DH and I went to a c-section class and I think that really helped to calm his nerves. They went through the procedure step-by-step, including the before and after care, so he has all of the information that he needs to feel prepared. I think he would be more nervous if the plan was for me to give birth vaginally, since it is a lot less "predictable" than a planned c-section.
Same here. My DH hates being in the hospital with me because of bad memories from my many emergency trips there due to my GI disorder. So having the c-section planned and predictable has really helped his nerves, maybe more so than my own. I still want to take him to a c-section class though.

Nope, my husband is a rock....he's totally the calm one of the two of us. That said...he hasn't been around blood or hospitals much so I don't know if that will a factor.

My SO is actually very excited and keeps saying how he cant wait to be dad when the baby is here and smiling all goofy. It is so sweet to listen to him. He is afraid he might pass out but I dont think he will. Hr is scared for me BC of the pain I feel but I believe he is mostly excited. Which is cute.
Maybe make sure you all have chairs nearby for your Hs to sit in if he gets woozy.
DH very much planned to be at my head, but I think curiosity got the better of him. When they said "she has lots of hair" he got so excited he just looked. He says it was really cool and not weird and gross like he thought. Which is funny because if the dog pukes on the floor he starts dry heaving and runs away LOL so it's not like he is super tough with everything.
