I mostly post on J15, Parenting and Working Parents, but really I mostly lurk.
I'm working on a business idea and wanted to gauge your interest in something.
How many of you would be interested in a part time flexible at home job? It would be structured as an i independent contractor role. No buy ins or anything (not an MLM/ commission based thing).
You would get paid for the tasks you complete, not hourly. You would need to have the ability to be at a computer (desktop or laptop) for several hours on and off, throughout the days you sign up to work, but not constantly during those days. Tasks will trickle in throughout the day, you can either answer them as they come in or within 4 hours. For example, you could work while kids are at preschool, napping, on play date, or after bedtime, etc.
Does this sound interesting to anyone here? Reactions?
1. You have never posted here, nor did you intro in this topic except to say that you lurk.
2. This sound very unappealing and inpractical to a SAHP....especially the part about being at a computer for several hours on and off throughout the day.
Maybe my viewpoint is skewed because I have a very active toddler, but there is no way I would be able to or want to do something like this. Some days I have a hard enough time keeping up with the housework, much less trying to fit in a job as well.
I agree with @auri. You provided very little info about what would be required. Several hours is a bit vague as well.
In September I'll have two in preschool and an infant so I can't imagine having time for this. No offense but preschool is only 3 hours at a time which is very little downtime. But maybe a parent that has all school aged children might be interested.

Yes! I'm tempted to tag gwapes about this because it's almost spam.
ETA: I also want to add that one major reason I stay home because we can afford for me to do so on DH's income. If we couldn't afford it, I'd go for a traditional WOH job, not some WAH scheme that would still require someone to watch my kids while I work or use all my kid-free nap, preschool, etc. time, which is very minimal and already allocated to important things.
Smells like spam to me. I'll hop on my pc in just a min and see if it's been reported already.
Sorry for the delay. I was stuffing my face with enchiladas.
I thought about reporting it and seeing what the other mods had to say, but didn't want to butt in on someone else's board since board cultures can vary and I haven't been posting on this one for long. Smells spammy to me too.

I am brand-new to this board and I can see why this sounds potentially spammy but if you're just toying with the idea and trying to gauge interest from SAHP, I can understand that. I am a SAHM to school-age kids now and might be interested in something like this depending on the nature of the work, pay, etc.
