I'm 37 weeks this week! Well on Thursday, is now Wednesday as its after 12PM here. Do I count enough to comment? Eek! I haven't really thought about it much but opening this thread it has just hit me! Are you 37 weeks also leenziepops?

Yup! I go by my weeks as opposed to days so I figure seeing as I'm 37 weeks tomorrow I'm technically already there! I just wanted to share my excitement even though I've been in denial recently! When I said my due date last week at birthing class everyone kind of gasped as they are all due at the end of July.. I'm the furthest along, which I didn't expect. Someone asked 'so what's it like having four weeks to go' I didn't really know how to respond as like I say.. I'm in denial


Also, it's crazy that we've all been communicating since like first tri back in TD days and now we're almost at the end.. It's amazing.

I know myself, ombradellarosa & wegrowsheep all hit the mark on Monday!

I was happy yesterday, had a great day, and then for some reason woke up straight into a literal panic attack today. Only the second one I've had in my life. I think the reality of "baby could come any day" on top of all the shit on my plate was just too much. So I called off work, slept until noon, and then made lists and designated tasks to DH and my sister to get done this weekend!

I fully realize it could be 4 more weeks or so yet, but I'm having this intense primal urge to get EVERYTHING DONE TODAY. Which is not possible when you're huge and exhausted. Ahhhh!

Feeling great about having this baby, though! That doesn't even sound like the hard part right now

Exactly how I feel! In my head I want to get everything done but physically my body won't let me. I also felt overwhelmed today. I woke up and burst into tears then I had to kick myself out of bed and get on with it! I'm really excited as I only have three weeks left until due date but I'm trying not to hype too much as chances are I'll go overdue Which will be killer as I have no patience! I'm not really scared of labour I just want to go ahead and do it ya know? As I think well.. I'm going to have to do it pain or no pain

missjenniebean - Yeah I've been getting everyone saying 'hurry up LO, any sign of him?' Urgh leave me alone. I just want to sleep the rest of this month. Why can't that be possible.

sugarkissed - Amen. I too feel so unorganised. The nursery needs completed also & I haven't washed his clothes yet or really sorted my hospital bag.. I must do this. I need to buy a new robe for the house as my current one will get ruined in labour no doubt & as a FTM I don't know what to pack. I'm going to use the hospital bag threads as a guide.

This time around I'm actually getting Braxton Hicks... with DD, those didn't show up until almost my due date. This time I've had them for weeks. Fun stuff. I just need two more weeks until my repeat c-section. Hoping this LO doesn't come early.

Yes! Monday was the magic day, and as of this morning all the clothes are washed and sorted. I have 2 packs of diapers. And I have lists, oh so many lists.... My SIL is expecting about 8 weeks after me (her 5th) and is so chill and wonderful. "Don't sweat it, you can always stop for diapers and wipes on your way home!"
I need to figure out how to assemble the cosleeper. Wait, who am I kidding? That's a great job for DH!

Yeah, people keep giving me that panicked look of "I don't want to be part of your birth story" any time I make a sound or face. I've had two different people ask if I'm "going to make it to my due date". Aside from being a stupid question (how the heck am I supposed to know when I'll have the baby? I'm not psychic!), why would you even wish that on me? I want the baby to come as close to on time as possible. It has been freaking me out that I'm (early) term already and could go any time, but I still have hope to get through at least most of the next three weeks. carolyngrace, sugarkissed, and cnumbers I am with you on the not-ready thing and needing to get everything done but my body isn't co-operating. I'm kicking myself for not doing more before I was so huge and tired all the time. Thankfully, DH is being soooo helpful.

Saturday is my first "okay to birth" milestone. 37w means we can use the birth center instead of the hospital.

After that, 05/26 is the most pregnant I've ever been (38w3d) and at 39w, I'll have my gif party.

I'm glad you were the downer so I don't have to be.  But if you look it up online it looks like they just changed the definition of full term approx October 2013, which is after most of us STM+'s other children were born.

I didn't know this! As my midwife and the L&D doctor I have met have told me 'At 37 weeks you are considered full term' this was a few weeks ago. I hadn't asked if I would be full term nor am I in a hurry to get this baby out, this is just what they have told me during their consultations. Sure I'm tired and the last part of pregnancy is getting kind of rough for me but I wouldn't wish him here sooner or try and encourage him. My sisters friend who is due mid June is now going daily walks so that 'baby arrives on his due date hehe!' major eye roll from me, sorry hon baby will come when good and ready. Also, kind of worrying if my health professionals are giving me the wrong information.. Maybe they consider it different over here?.. Although I doubt it. I'm still on every two weeks for appointments so they're not that fussed, my next appointment is 38 weeks!. I'm confused though as now I have conflicting information but I know I want baby in there until my due date or past at least!

My doctor says they consider 37 weeks to be full term, however unless there is a medical reason the earliest they will do C-sections or induce is 39 weeks. They used to do them at 37.

To be technical isn't 37-38 considered "early" term and 39-beyond considered "full" term? My understanding was all systems were a go at 37 (lungs, kidneys, etc.) but that the brain continued to develop until 39 which is why most places, including my hospital will not induce or c-section unless it is medically necessary until at least 39. But also that no doctor is going to stop labor after 37 weeks.

I'm glad you brought this up (I've been thinking about it for a while). I agree with another poster that 37 is considered early term. It is a more recent change (brought on primarily by March of Dimes from my understanding). I have a friend who is an older nurse and even before the changes she really pushed a baby needing to stay put as long as possible (boys even more so than girls)

Do you know why boys more so than girls? That is interesting.

I believe it was something to do about lung development? Our pediatrician even made a comment about girls being more of "fighters" than boys early on. It may just be an old way of thinking.
