What are the Grands called?

What names do your kids use/will they use for the grandparents?

MIL is Grandma or Grandma Sharon.

My parents are Pogo and The Old Man. That's right, my father is "old man." He's not even 65.

DS calls them grandma (first name) and grandpa. My mom keeps trying to get the girls to call her Memaw and it's annoying me; I haven't even got them calling me Mama and I feel like it's too close to that, so it would be confusing.

My ILs became Papa and Nanny by SIL when our first niece was born. Even DH says he feels ridiculous referring to his mom as Nanny to our kids and I have to agree. MIL claims she wouldn't have wanted to be called grandma anyway.

My parents are grandpa and grandma. They wouldn't have liked cutesy nicknames so it all worked out.

My parents are Grandma and Pawpaw, Finkle's mom calls herself "BB" (Barbara)

My dad has a family name that everyone calls him (it's to specific to post here, but let's say it's "Speedy") My cousins call him Uncle Speedy, etc.

So we call him Grandpa Speedy, and then refer to all the other Grands as Grandma/Grandpa First Name.

LO is the first grandkid, so I'm guessing she'll make up things to call all of them, but we're starting there.

My paternal Grandma (LO's Great Grandma) has insisted that she be called GG (pronounced gigi, and short for Great Grandma), even though MIL's first name starts with a G, so she's also Grandma G, or GG. Sigh.

My great grandmother refused to be a/be called grandma or grandmother, so she was always called her first name, Harriett.

Exactly shibes. My MIL and FIL are agonizing over what they "want to be called" and they try something new out every single time. I will refer to them as grandma and grandpa to Junie and she'll likely come up with her own version of those. And that's that. MIL is weird about being called grandma-- I think bc she's in denial that her child bearing days are over-- so that's been a treat to deal with.

My mother chose Pogo because it was a NN her grandmother called her when she was little. Nothing seemed "right" for my dad so he just said "call me old man" and so we did. I get that the name can come "naturally" but if you're talking to your kid about going to see grandma or talk to them on the phone, or whatever, you've got to call the grandparent something, so that's what's most likely going to stick and you do have influence on that.

I agree. My grandparents were always grandpa & grandma <last name> -- both sets! Easy enough.

Our grands kept it simple. Grandma (last name) and Grandpa (last name) for each set. Easy, peasy.

I tried to convince my parents to go with Lolly and Pop but they wouldn't buy it.

Yup. I referred to my grams as .. Big gram little gram. (One was tall, one was short) I don't get the obsession of picking out a name to be called.

Both my grandparents are still living so they are Mawmaw and Pappy, and Gram and Grandpa. ILs are Nana and Papa. My parents are Grandma and Grandpa. I like having different names for each of them but I'm excited for DD to put her own spin on them as she gets more vocal.

My parent's are Nana and Grandpa ( My nephew is 4 and he picked the names and we just go with it)
DH's Mom is Grammy his step dad is Papa
DH's Dad is Grandpa last name.

We don't see him ever so I'm sure he'll always be grandpa last name where my dad will just be grandpa.

DH's grandparent's are just great-grandma/grandpa
My grandma is Bushia ( grandma is Polish), my other grandparents are just great-grandma/grandpa

Both of our Moms want Grammy now. It's so dumb I call them all the wrong thing anyways. DS will figure it out. I also hope he calls Pops, "poops" because that would be hilarious.

At the funeral home we buried a man with the last name Burgar, and his wife's maiden name was Frye. I thought it was great.

Grammy and GP (he first wanted to be called papi...DH put a nix to that b/c it means father...so FIL amended it to grand papi but then he realized that it would take DD forever to learn how to say that and shortened to GP which I like better)

My Family
Mom: Noma (Italian for grandmother...also her 1st name is mona and sounds very similar)

My Real Dad: Geaux Pap (they live in Louisiana and I think this is cute and original), Step Mother is called Gran

Both of our parents are Grandma and Grandpa for the current grandkids, so I'm guessing they will be grandma/grandpa (last name) unless DD comes up with something all on her own.
