S/O staying in your PJs all day

On the average day, do you stay in your PJs, put on athletic apparel (sweats, yoga pants, etc.), wear jeans and a blouse, don a nice dress, or what? Does your outfit change if you leave the house? Do you expect to keep this apparel once you are out of the NB phase (if applicable)? Do you do your hair and make up?

I'm a jeans and nice-ish top (usually a T-shirt, but not the boxy kind, or a sweater) wearer for the most part, and it doesn't really matter if we go out or stay in. In the NB phase, I was a "whatever is clean and can get spit up on it" wearer, and I cringe a bit looking at photos of me in stained sweats and boxy T's all day, but what is a new mom to do? I usually do my hair in a simple style that will look nice for a couple days with minimal maintenance. I wear make up if I'm in the mood to put it on, but I've never been worried about leaving the house without it on. My kids always want to play with it if they see me putting it on, so it gets to be a huge hassle to do.

I normally stay in my pjs unless we're leaving the house. Then it can range from yoga pants/capris and a tee/tank to jeans & a tee or nicer top, to a dress or skirt/top combo, depending on where we're going, with whom, etc. Same for DS (well, not the skirts and dresses, but he normally stays in his pjs unless they get wet/dirty or we are going someplace).

It depends on the weather. During the summer I wear dresses a lot because they are comfy and I don't have to find something to match. In the winter I wear mostly yoga pants and sweatshirts unless we are going somewhere nicer and then I'll do a sweater and jeans. Newborn days I wore whatever. There were many days I didn't get out of pj's.

If I don't get dressed, I don't get anything done. I just don't feel awake until I'm dressed and have my contacts in. Jeans or yoga pants and tee if I'm doing messier work, jeans and 'nice' tee if it's just a normal day or I'm going somewhere. Makeup happens maybe once or twice a week, but I'm not a big makeup person. Hair is in a ponytail unless I'm dressing up/have something I want to look nice for. DS loves to grab hair, so for the sake of my scalp it stays out of the way. Newborn days I spent in pajamas/sweats unless someone was coming over to see the baby.

At home I always wear leggings and a maternity tank (not pregnant, they're just good for nursing). I wore pajamas all the time until DD was like 3 months old. If I'm leaving the house I put on jeans or shorts and a nursing tank/loose shirt combo and do my makeup. I always have my hair in a ponytail because DD will rip it out of my head if I don't, haha.

In the NB phase I wore whatever was comfy. DH and I shared a car for the first 10 months so I was mostly home with twin NB's. I did have friends come over a few times a week during the day so then I'd usually (sometimes) dress a little nicer, but it was mostly survival mode.

These days, I do get dressed almost every morning to take the boys to school, but I'll often work out and shower later and get dressed in something a little nicer. On days I'm home cleaning all day I'll usually stay more casual (yoga pants or shorts, etc.).

I am very similar to you, redfraggle. Jeans and nice-ish top. Often a necklace, but I wouldn't even say a large majority of the time though on that. Currently, I typically only do my hair if going outside, going somewhere, or company is coming unless I shower earlier in the day (in which case it is brushed and put neatly in a clip while still wet). Even when I do anything with it, it is often just thrown as neatly as possible into a clip or band. For around the house without visitors, I throw it in a clip but not with use of a mirror. I did my hair nicer and more frequently though before my hand injury but typically just down, nothing fancy. Using the curling iron to tame my some-parts-curly-some-parts-wavy-some-parts-sorta-straight mess into something uniform is not pleasant at the moment. I only wear make up a few times a year at most, even then, minimally.

Early NB phase when he nursed 24/7 was pants (often yoga pants because only a few jeans fit comfortably so I had to save them for going out of the house) and a spaghetti strap tank or nursing tank if I was home and no one aside from perhaps my mom was going to be stopping by.

On a normal day DD and I usually stay in our pjs until around 11. Around 11 is when we usually go out and do something, so I normally put on jeans and a t-shirt. I don't own yoga pants (FFFC?), but I will start wearing shorts soon due to the hot weather here in the South. I never wear make-up or do my hair.

melw629 This sounds like me! I only wear makeup of we're going out somewhere. My hair is usually pulled back in a pony or braid so it's out of lo's reach. I usually rotate between jeans and yoga pants with a nice tee or tank. During the newborn days it was sweats or leggings with sweaters.

This was a good question. I liked reading all the responses. I usually am in sweat pants and a tank until halfway through the day when we go for a walk or something. If it is a day where we have Story Time or Mommy and Me I'm dressed by 10 instead of 11 or so. When I do get dressed I wear capris most of the time and a tank. Florida heat is killer and you just sweat in jeans although I wore them yesterday. The only time I ever wore make up is when I worked in Retail at Charlotte Russe because they wanted me too. I'll wear it for a wedding or date. My hair is always up in a messy bun when I'm in the house. If we go out I brush it and put it in a neater bun/ponytail.

If I'm not leaving the house at all, I'll usually stay in yoga pants, a tank, and a cardigan (if it's not warm).

But most days we do leave the house at some point so I usually wear jeans/shorts with a nicer t-shirt or sleeveless shirt.

Hair and make up depends on where we're going. Quick trip to the grocery store? No. Going to the library or to play with friends? Yes.

I'm usually a jeans and a t-shirt kind of girl. Early this pregnancy during winter I wore yoga/ sweat pants all the time. It was comfy and I can reuse them next year after I have had the baby. Now that it's getting warm here, I have some maternity shorts, and some maxi dresses. I basically just rotate through them. I'll wear. T-shirts or a tank too with the shorts. If I don't have anywhere to go I'll stay in my pajamas as long as possible. It's just more comfortable. My hair is always in a messy bun, all day every day.

Depends on the day but M-Th, DS has preschool so I have to get out of pajamas for taking him/picking him up but I'm almost always in athletic type clothes (sweats/leggings, etc.)
I don't see the point in dressing up for 5-10 minutes.
I'm very low maintenance. I don't wear makeup & my hair is usually down so there's nothing I have to 'do.'
Weekends also depend on what we're doing but I'm a super casual girl.

We recently hit 20 mo. of BFing, and DD never took a bottle (not for lack of trying!). I wore nursing tanks with a sweater or T-shirt over top in cool weather or by themselves in warm weather. DD wasn't ok with me using my nursing cover after about 3 months, so I just got used to being a little bit exposed. I've nursed in a lot of public places, including in church (nowhere near the back row, though not in the very front), so I can honestly tell you, it isn't as big a deal as we sometimes make it out to be. Hang in there!

I am normally a jeans and tshirt kind of person and I don't wear make up. I straighten my hair every morning but that's the extent of it really. I don't know I'm just not super into that kind of stuff. Sorry DD, you are probably screwed in that department.

As for clothing it depends on what we are doing, I love just staying in sweatpants if we aren't leaving. If we do go out though it just depends on how the morning is going, if it's rough yoga pants it is. If not, I'll throw my jeans on. Today we had playgroup at our house and as soon as everyone left, out came the sweatpants haha

We are just getting out of the newborn phase I guess, DD will be 4m later in May. My husband just came home from deployment so a lot of the time I wore the yoga pants or shorts that I slept in. If we were going out I would take extra care to "dress up" aka jeans and a nice tee, complete with hair and make up. Around the house I usually never do my hair/make up but when I go out I usually do. With DH gone it was necessary to sometimes feel human.

That being said, a quick trip to the grocery store doesn't require make up. Pretty much what has already been said applies here as well.

I'm a jeans and nice shirt kind of person. It's finally starting to warm up here so I'll wear mostly casual, comfy dresses. My hair is long and mostly back in a ponytail or a side braid. If I'm going out somewhere I fancy myself up with mascara and earrings.

NB days - I think I just rotated out my most comfortable, easy access nursing pyjama's. This lasted for weeks.

Depends on my mood for the day. Yesterday, I switched from yoga pants to different yoga pants without stains. Today, I wore a maxi skirt with a concert shirt. I try to wear mascara most days just to attempt to look nice. I never do my hair (its really long) unless it's a special occasion. I put it up in a self contained (no holder, no pins) bun while it's still wet. By evening, it's in a ponytail.

raven what magic do you use to keep a bun in place without a holder or bobby pins? I need to know how to do this.

melw629 I have fine thin hair. It only works when wet. I flip upside down, twist/twirl my hair, and then make the bun. I tuck the ends up underneath and it usually stays for half the day at least.

Since I now do school runs I wear jeans and a jumper or T-shirt most days, depending on the weather. Sometimes I wear a long skirt instead of jeans, but that's pretty much it. My hair goes up in a bun or into a braid. Sometimes if I've not got much to do, I'll dress up nicely and if I'm meeting DW after work I always like to dress up nicely.

5 Months PP and I still have 20 lbs of baby weight, so noisy days are yoga pants and a tank top (and sometimes a zip up hoodie too).

I grew up in a house where everyone lived in soft pants unless we left the house. I'm carrying on that tradition.

4 months PP and I can wear my old tops, but bottoms are hopeless! Maybe after I finish nursing.... I don't stay in pajamas, but I am pretty casual. Jeans, yoga pants, tops, tshirts, anything comfy that I can pull down for nursing is acceptable. Hair up because it's hot already here and LO likes to pull it. I'm not a makeup girl unless it's a date with DH; then a will wear a cute dress or skirt because that's what he likes
