Fave Baby Shower Games?

So my SIL's baby shower is coming up in a little more than 2 weeks. I've been tasked with coming up with a few games for the shower and I've been putting it off. I did a few searches online and most of the ones I saw were either ones that were done at my shower (I'd rather not repeat) or ones that best fit a co-ed shower. I know a lot of you ladies didn't like games at your shower, but do you have any recommendations for ones you disliked the least? Or ones that were actually fun? Any help with the brainstorming here would be much appreciated. 

Here are the ones we did at my shower that I would like to avoid:
- name the baby items (limited time to look at basket with baby items and then write down as many as you remember)
- don't say the word baby (if someone catches you saying it, you have to give away your safety pin/whatever and the one with the most at the end of the shower wins)

My family gets really into the getting someone to say "baby" . My little cousins get involved and end up stealing pins from EVERYONE.

For one of my good friend's showers they did a game based of popular children's books. Like they asked questions about certain parts of books or nursery rhymes. And whoever got the most right or turned it in first won the prize. The printed the questions and passed then out to the group.

I've only been to one recently that had games so I'll share what they did, not necessarily my style but they weren't as bad as some games I've heard of.

1) Everyone was given a candy bracelet during the gift opening. Everytime someone said certain words like cute, darling, etc (you could pick whatever words) they ate a candy off the bracelet. There wasn't really a winner, but it was a fun game with everyone pointing out "you said xyz!"
2) they had some sort of baby ice cubes. It was basically a tiny baby frozen in an ice cube. We were given them in a drink and whenever the baby was floating freely, we were to exclaim "my water broke!" and we won a prize.
3) we did the measuring her belly game.

We did a price is right type of game at my shower where you had to guess the price of a bunch of baby items, like a bottle brush, jar of baby food, package of diapers, container of wipes, etc.

Ones I've done at past showers:
1) guess the celebrity baby
2) Fill a baby bottle with candy and the person who comes closes to the # of pieces without going over gets to keep it.
3) Make a quiz about the mom-to-be's pregnancy/childhood: what did she crave? what's her due date? when was she/her H born? Etc (I had a bunch of fun/cute questions that I asked but I of course can't remember them now)
4) Baby gift bingo - you can print cards off the internet. It livens up the opening of gifts portion since everyone will be paying close attention trying to fill their card.

Is your SIL having a girl? At my baby shower the hostess had set up a make a headband for the baby station. I assume you could get all the stuff at hobby lobby or something - just used a hot glue gun to put bows on headbands or barett clips.

My favorite was the baby song game. All songs have the word baby in the title and you play a little snippet of the song and everyone has to guess the title and artist. It was really fun!

Going along with this: You could divide the group into smaller teams and play a round robin type game.  You give them 5-10 minutes to come up with as many songs they can think of with the word baby in them.  Then you have the teams sing a little bit of each song and pass to the next team.  They can't repeat songs and if they take too long then they are out.  Did that make sense?

I wouldn't mind a game like that.  Most of them I despise though.  The one I hated most at my shower was the name the baby game.  Everyone gave suggestions and I had to go through them and pretend that they weren't hideous.

I went to one recently that had a "guess the celebrity baby name to the celebrity" game. Basically a list of celebrities and then a list of their babies names and you had to match them up.

I don't know how others feel about it, but I think it's a fun game: the melted candy bar in a diaper game and guess what kind of candy bar it is.

Thanks ladies. I love the ideas. I'm crazy busy at work but I'll have to take a look at these. I'm already over budget on gifts for her, so although I love the Price is Right game, I don't know if I could go out and just buy a bunch more gifts to use for the game, KWIM?

I actually enjoy Shower Bingo. We played it at my friend's bridal shower so I totally copied her for my bridal and baby showers. Keeps people interested in gift opening without too much involvement.

Celebrity baby match. I know someone else mentioned it but it's fun. Get a bunch of celebrity baby pics and put on a board. Parents in a list for people to guess. Make sure to put mom to be's baby pic up too. I loved people thinking I was a Pitt for a day.

Ah. Well in that case what about getting bibs to decorate? I did that at another shower. The mom left the room and then picked her favorite & that was the "winner". But in general I liked that better than decorate a onesie since I don't think you can have too many bibs!!

Good, it's fun and free!  Baby is a pretty common word in songs so people usually have enough to pick from for a good game.

We did the songs with baby in the title game and it was really fun.

We also found a bunch of lullaby versions of popular songs on Spotify/Itunes and played them and people had to guess what the real song was.

The last game was they had my parents and the ILs come up with a bunch of facts about MH and me as babies and people had to guess which fact belong to which person.

-Guess the future mom's belly size was kind of fun - every body thought my belly was much bigger then it was
-Finish the nursery rhyme
Also we had a roster where people put their estimate for future baby weight, length, day of births etc. Whoever was the closest on all counts got the nice prize

I love that - that would be so much fun.

At mine my now SIL did the candy bar diaper game, I was so totally grossed out at first, but people actually had fun with it.

This might not be realistic for you on your time frame, but my sister asked all the guests to send her a picture of them as a kid or baby and they were displayed on a board. You had to identify as many people as you could. It was a good ice breaker for people who did not know each other because if you saw a picture that looked like someone you had to find out what their name was. It was a small shower though, so it was not overwhelming with the number of people that were there. It was really interesting seeing the pictures of the different generations.

Just heard of a hilarious game if you have a group that has a sense of humor... It was pictures of women's faces and you had to decide if it was from childbirth or a porno.

bliz1712, this is awesome! The shower is going to be mostly family. And while my grandma and great aunts have a great sense of humor, I think it might be a little too much.
