I need to clean out and update toys. Since I'm going to be SAH soon I feel like Emma may need more ways to entertain herself. We still have a lot of babyish toys and not a lot of preschooler stuff. Thankfully, birthdays are coming up!
What does your LO love to play with/or pretend the most? What toy did you think they would love but they never use?
Emma currently loves her baby doll stuff (crib, high chair, diaper bag) and baby doll. She likes to play mommy- change diapers, feed, brush hair, etc. She also likes to dress up and play music to dance around to. The kitchen is also still played with daily.
Emma rarely plays with her Little Einsteins Rocket. That's all she wanted for Christmas, so I thought she would love it. Nope. She also never uses the table and chairs she got from her grandmother. She prefers to play games, read and draw in the floor.
I feel like I never know what she will like! I might buy her something expecting her to love it, then she will never play with it but will entertain herself for hours with a random kids meal toy or a pile of rocks and sticks.

Ingrid's birthday is in 2.5 months and allllllll she can talk about is getting a Buz (Lightyear) for her birthday. We will be getting her a Buzz. She will probably love it for 30 seconds then never pick it up again.
Her current favorites are books and her dress up Minnie. She's getting more and more into the make-believe thing. She will create little stories - Minnie is going shopping, Minnie is putting on her outfit to go shopping, and her all time favorite: Minnie pooped her panties and it's stinky.

Legos, wood blocks, magnatiles, play food and a variety of bowls and spoons from my kitchen! Outside he loves to kick his Thomas the Train ball and blow bubbles.
And he loves coloring-we do crayons and Color Wonder markers. He's been asking for scissors-I think they did some floam cutting at school recently...
Me too never know what she will like to play with. Some expensive toys she would play only few times and they just stand there collecting dust and some little random things she loves. V loves to play with her Mickey ClubHouse figurines. I bought them for her to play on the plain and it has been the best entertainment since - $10 nicely spend. She also likes some stuffed toys, but we have way more then she plays with, so I am going to donate some of them. For a big birthday present I am thinking a nice dollhouse...

In addition to what you mentioned - Little a People are still a hit here. She loves her Disney Princess Barbies & Barbie car. Legos she goes in spurts with - we have a Duplo set that you use to build animals & she likes it. We have bristle blocks (the B.Toys brand) and she really likes those. Her tea set gets played with ALL the time. I'm holding off on a dollhouse for Xmas since I figure by that point we will be ready for a new indoor toy but she loves the ones at the toy store & her cousins house.
Legos (duplos), puzzles and books here. Hates crafts and coloring which is fine with me. He does a lot of pretend play with his duplo guys. He also likes his play kitchen/grill and plays "picnic" a lot.
All he wanted for Christmas was a train and he hardly ever plays with it. Maybe when he's a bit older.
Most of J's toys are in storage still, so I'm hoping that will help re-spark her interest in a lot of them!
What she's been playing with recently: Minnie/Daisy snap on dress up dolls, puzzles, Minnie Bingo (a big hit), She also plays with her dolls sometimes. Oh and diapers.... haha.

He plays "mergency" all. The. Time. He fake calls in and then says what the emergency is (or you do) and he goes to save the people, put out a fire, fix something. Its cute! Last night there was a cop at target and he asked him if there was " an mergency "

The tablet is probably #1, tbh
Toys, he loves his little people farm and animals and tractor. He still plays with his kitchen a lot (the other day he went behind it and announced "I'm the kitchen guy! What you want to eat?" Lol)
Play doh, painting, crayons are big hits but he always wants me to draw/make everything for him, which gets kinda old after awhile
Things that he can use his imagination with are big hits here. He love playing with his trains and race cars. He will make up storied of what they need to do, bring them to the "wash down" or change their tiers in the pits. Little figurines are also a hit here.
Right now he is loving his outdoor stuff too. He loves his trike, cozy coupe car, and Thomas power wheels. He also loves his chalk and playing with balls and bubbles. Lately we have been outside more than inside, so they have all been getting a lot of use.

The doctor's kit is a big hit here these days. We have the Wee MD kit by B. Toys. Stuffed animals in my house are "uh-oh" and require visits to the doctor multiple times a day. . Other current favorites include her doll house, duplos, trains, and tool set.

Aubrey is obsessed with her Disney glitter glider princesses. She plays with them all the time. She also has a trampoline she loves. The kitchen is still getting a lot of use too.
I thought she would love her doc mobile but it doesn't get played with as much as I expected.

Cosette loves her My little ponies and her tinkerbell fairies. She also plays a lot with those books that have the reusable stickers that you peel on and off for hours! She loves playing with the dollhouse at daycare and the library and we are getting my childhood one back from my uncle so I'll pick up new toys to outfit that as needed. She also loves playing baby dolls a lot! So I think I'm going to get some more universal clothing for them and maybe some accessories or a bed or furniture for them. She also really likes plastic animal figures, so I might buy a few of those, the larger sized ones since we have the really small ones.
Sorry for the post and run earlier.,, life got in the way. Thanks for all the great ideas!
mightythorgi I always forget about MagnaTiles, but I think she would really love those. All my older kids at school still love to play with them. Emma has also been asking for scissors lately. I wonder if there are toddler safe scissors out there...
britbratjf We haven't gotten her any barbies yet. I was thinking she wasn't old enough. I bet she would love them.
trixi282 After we moved Emma could entertain herself for hours with all the toys we had in storage! It was fabulous!
bantyrooster I love that he plays mergency! So cute.
somethingcleverer I'm going to have to look into these glitter princess things! Sounds like something Emma would love!

We have some Melissa and Doug scissors that are wonderful. They don't cut hair, skin, etc, but do well even with thick paper. Tumaini loves them.

When DD#1 was getting ready to start preschool her teacher suggested letting her practice using scissors. I was terrified because she wasn't even 3 yet. Thankfully the only thing she has cut that wasn't supposed to be cut was a nighgown.
mightythorgi - We got Kayleigh scissors a few months ago because she kept wanting to play with our scissors. I just got a pair of Up&Up preschool scissors from Target and we've had no issues with her cutting herself. The scissors have this little spring you can engage in them that pushes the scissors open. So it makes it easier for the kids to use but also allows them quick release if they attempt to cut themselves. The only thing is that for a while, she would take paper and cut it into millions of tiny pieces. It was a huge mess. But now the novelty has worn out and she just uses them for her "crafts".

I picked up some plastic Crayola scissors at Michael's yesterday. All he wants to do is SCISSORS! Like, no snuggles for mommy this morning, had to get downstairs and cut some paper.
