Little dude slept almost 8 hours. I've been taking the nightshift for quite awhile and don't remember the last time I got 6 consecutive hours of sleep. I guess it has been 5 months and 9 days. I feel freakin' amazing! Thanks buddy! I'm sure this is an isolated occurrence, but I know he can do it now so we are headed in the right direction.
I'm seeing the light at the end of the sleep deprivation tunnel and it's glorious!
So I was wrong. Kiddo slept 7 hours Saturday night...granted it was from 5:30 to 12:30, so the timing was off but still. Last night he slept 8hrs 20mins. If it weren't for DS1 crawling to bed and flailing about like he does, DW and I could have got nearly 7 hours!

Splitting hairs I guess, that is still great sleep! DS has been waking up a lot recently, and DW and I determined he will sleep longer if he has a blanket on. We are concerned about suffocation hazards from the blanket so although he is sleeping longer, we are not necessarily getting great sleep ourselves
DS1 was the same way with the blanket, but still at 4 doesn't know how to use one. He will sleep in his sleeping bag on his bed otherwise never with a blanket. He'll wake up in winter saying he's cold, but refuses to use a blanket.
I feel you on worrying about suffocation keeping you up. DS2 would get limbs stuck between his crib slats so we decided to put up a mesh bumper. It's like they just want to mess with you, because now he has taken to sleeping in the middle of the crib on his stomach face planted into the mattress. Yet, I know if we take down the bumper he's back to getting limbs caught and crying because he's stuck. Once asleep I'll turn his head to the side and he's good.
Last night was decent. I went to bed early, kiddo got up at 10 and then back to sleep around 1030 or so. Then up at 3:30. He was wide awake at 3:30 so I didn't get back to bed until closer to 4:30-4:45. I should have just stayed up, but went back to sleep until 5:45. Totally dragging today. I got a total of about 7 hours, but I don't handle an hour here, a few there very well.

DS is the same in the crib and we also deployed a mesh bumper some time ago to prevent him from getting limbs stuck, etc. DW gets a little paranoid about him rolling over with his face to the mesh, even though its breathable. Regarding the "breathable blanket" its far to thin to keep him warm! we are using a different blanket and for the most part he doesn't mess with the blanket when he's sleeping. The issue is when he tosses and turns in his sleep and the blanket could wrap around him incidentally. DW and I have a debate going about how to lay him in the crib (long way, or short way). Honestly I started putting him in diagonally as a compromise and its easier to say he shifted in one direction than to continue to argue about the correct sleeping position.
