So instead of just being a PW, I wondered if this could be a shared thread. Do any of you have any home decor or any other types of decorations that you want a second opinion on, or want to just show off? I always like seeing stuff like this get shared, plus I have a question - haha.

Do these curtains work here? They haven't been washed, so that's why they look a little frumpy. Haven't decided yet. I was trying to pick up on the turquoisey colors in the two prints on the wall.

♪♫choppinbroccoli♫♪, I love the curtains! I have a rug that same color/pattern, so I'm a little biased. Also, I like that the blue is breaking up all the brown/wood-tones. I think they brighten the room.

What do you guys think of this fabric for valances?
The former homeowners left all window treatments, and I've wanted to change the valences in the living room/breakfast room (it's all one big open area) since we moved in. Currently, they're this weird pattern of vases (think like the ancient Greek style) in reds and browns. Everything downstairs is wood-toned, but we've brightened it up with a blue rug in the living room, a light greyish couch, green placemats on the breakfast table, stuff like that. I saw this fabric and my mom and I both thought it would be a good replacement. The silver/grey color matches the couch, the blues and greens would compliment the rug, I think. I don't have a picture of the interior of the house on hand, but I can post one later if it would help.

♪♫choppinbroccoli♫♪, I love love the curtains! From the pic they are very dominant compared to the brown and gold tones of the rest of the room. It is probably easier to see in person compared to in the picture, but I like that the turquoise is pulling from the prints. I would maybe look at adding a few more minor "pops" throughout the room (turquoise napkins or flowers, etc) to pull it all together. It would make them tie in more than stand out.
I HAVE THOSE CURTAINS ♪♫choppinbroccoli♫♪! Which means I love them. I'm planning on painting the living room (where they live) gray though.
I wish I could see the accents in the prints though. I'm sure it matches! It gives the room a nice break in color since it's a very brown-dominant room.
Maybe get a table runner in the same color? That would pull the room together even more.

I agree with rablissful and roastytoasty about adding some pops of the turquoise color on the table to tie it all together. A runner, napkins, placemats, etc.

So much texture with the walls, my eyes are over stimulated.

♪♫choppinbroccoli♫♪ - I like the curtains, but I don't think they work in that room. It's the combination of the pattern on the walls (is that sponge paint or wallpaper?) and the pattern of the curtains clashing.

I'll post a picture of the rooms this evening. Pretty sure I don't have any on me, unfortunately.

I love the fabric, but I'm not generally a fan of valences. Sometimes they look good, but often they can look dated. I'd be curious to see pics of the rooms!

This dining room has been a pain in my side. The textured walls are a little over the top (it was like that when we bought it). We moved in last April, and I have yet to find curtains that I like in that room. And I don't want to add any more brown or cream unless there are other colors with it, preferably the darker shade of turquoise. *sigh*
Thanks for all of your opinions! I have some other items that I might be able to add to balance it out a little bit. I'm gonna try some things and give it a week.
Have you thought about painting the walls? It seems really dark. You could easily lighten up the room with a fresh coat of paint.
Yes! I have been thinking about this for a while. I almost want to leave the bottom brown, and do something different with the textured part. Like, maybe paint it all one color instead of the base color/lightly paint with darker color over top combo.
Kohl's! I think I got two panels for $28 with them being "on sale" and with my 30% off coupon (I have no idea if that is a good price for Kohl's quality).

I'm typically not either, but we have SO MANY WINDOWS along the back wall of the house, and I felt like curtains would be overwhelming. Even just sheer fabric covering them. The valance look works well, I think, I just hate the fabric the previous owners used.

If you're really wanting to change things up, what about something like this? A bold color on top and white on the bottom.

I love painting above and below a chair rail the same color -- I think it makes things more modern. I also think you need to lighten up that room. Grey would be lovely and then add more pops of turquoise.

I could use an opinion. I made curtains for our bedroom this weekend. We have three windows, one on each exterior wall. They are fairly small windows since the house was built in the 70s when they apparently liked dark rooms. We have 8 foot ceilings. I'm on the fence about how I hung them up. Should they be lower? Pinterest says to make room/windows looks bigger you hang the curtains high, but I think the gap above the window looks a little goofy.
I like the curtains on their own. But I don't like them with the room.
+1. There's a lot going on with the pattern in the curtain and the walls. I would probably get a solid color curtain or paint the walls a cooler color.
