Oh, I do this to my H all the time. We have painted literally every wall in our house at least once. The living room is on its second color since we moved in (hey, we had larger windows installed and the brighter light made the first color look terrible!), and I have two cans of paint sitting in my bedroom ready to go, as soon as I have the time. 

He'll get over it. It's kind of labor intensive, but painting walls is one of the most effective bang-for-your-buck ways to change up a room!

MH didn't tell me he was redecorating. I was a little confused when I walked into the bathroon.
I really like the color suggestions. I'm trying to figure out where else I can use a bathmat because I don't really like it either; unfortunately, H showered before I got home so I can't return it.

Thanks! The countertops in that picture are soapstone, which require sealing every few years. We may go with honed slate or look for a granite if we can find one that is a subdued gray like that.

The only think I am worried about in that scheme is that with the bold cabinets and countertop, I may be better off with a less busy backsplash.

Two toned cabinets are my favorite thing right now. I don't know why, but they really grab me. I like the natural wood as part of two-tones as well, but the cabinets are already painted white so we think we are just going to leave the uppers like that.

I think that because your cabinets are bold, but not busy the backsplash still works. Your floors and countertops are also not at all busy. What color will you paint the walls?

SO SO true. We will be moving soon and I desperately want to paint the master bedroom which DH thinks is ridiculous. He would be ok with it except for he personally hates to paint. #dontcare

I will forgo painting every other room in the house, I would love it if my bed room were complete. That includes painting.

I'm late to this, but I love the curtains alone, but not in that room with that furniture.  That is a very modern print and the room has a very traditional feel to it.  It just seems off to me.

AWing our kitchen because it is finally done! Please ignore the curtains that are tied up, trying to keep them safe from baby kitten claws.

Originally we were going to go with different countertops, and do an awesome backsplash. We unfortunately though had some major difficulties with the countertop people and decided because we decided to list our house to just not do the backsplash.

I'm thinking just white. Perhaps with a very subtle grey tint.

Have you looked into Quartz?  It has a ton of colors and little/no pattern so you could do a more pale grey that would still contrast to your lower cabinets but be a color you want.

I did a lot of searching ahead of this to see some different options...here's one piece of inspiration I am pulling from. I think the dark countertops are fabulous with the color (although clearly the lower cabinet color here is lighter).

That is a very pretty kitchen!  Dark cabinets and dark countertops are just not my style, but if you love them go for it!

I like Quartz but I get sticker shock!

There is light grey granite. My plan is to buy some white tile, get a paint sample, and backsplash samples, and take them all to pick out our stone.

Here is some unsolicited advice for kitchen remodels.  We just redid ours and spent a TON of money because nothing in our kitchen except the window and the stove stayed the way it was.

We were very careful with our expenses and while I love the final product I do wish I hadn't "panicked" over the cost of some of the upgrades I wanted.  Most people don't have unlimited funds available, but if you are spending $50,000 what is an extra $1,000 for something you really want?  I wish we had spent the money to put in the in floor heating and now we can't do it until we replace the tile floors.  Since they are brand new that probably won't happen for 20 years.  It is one thing to wait to upgrade an appliance or to change your mind on a paint color, but when it comes to the major elements I wouldn't sacrifice what you want unless it is crazy over budget.

I agree. I really like those curtains. But I would personally go for no pattern on the curtains since the wall already has a pattern. Or keep the curtains and paint the wall a solid color!

Thanks for all of your opinions! I have some other items that I might be able to add to balance it out a little bit. I'm gonna try some things and give it a week.

If you like those curtains ( I do ! ) I would change the top part of the wall, paint it a grey/blue or lighter turquoise. Otherwise what about a gold type curtain ?  

I think this is the direction I want to start going down first. I usually play it pretty safe with wall colors, but I'm thinking about getting a wild hair and trying something new!

It's not my favorite rug...but if that's really white then perhaps it's ok. Not ideal but not as bad as that pic makes it seem?

YH did good. Mine gets this panicked look on his face when we need to make a decor choice.

It's a discontinued sofa from Ikea. I have a second slip cover for when the cats kill this one. I am 80% sure the other slip cover is red, and 20% sure it is chambray.

I just bought a similar accent chair off Target's website for $140. It's really nice quality for the price and it was super easy to put together. They have a bunch of nice ones, it was hard to choose!

All of this is for our screened in porch. But now I'm stuck on how to make the space feel "finished." Do I bring in more red? other primary colors? Do I do that with throw pillows? or vases? or flowers (but our porch is very shady). The porch itself is a medium-stained wood with graphite screens (or it will be once the screens are installed).

ETA: the chairs and couch are kind of like these, but we are building them, so less fancy:

I would do flowers personally.  There are lots of flowers that do well in shade as long as they get water.  Begonias come in red, white and pink and do well in shade.  Impatiens are another that come in a lot of colors.

If you want another color I would pull in some yellow.  It will look nice with the red and the grey.
