Of course my doctor was running late, which added to the anxiety, but it was the exact same team that did my CVS last week, so that was reassuring. Also, I didn't have to undress, and the needle was smaller (and it was only one this time), so it was definitely less painful. Because all three came back clear of chromosomal abnormalities, it was really a matter of the doctor choosing which to reduce- "C" was always 2-7 days behind and the gestational sac was significantly smaller, so they left us with A&B. DH was in the room this time, and I think right now he's having a harder time than I, but I'm sure it will hit me in the next few days. For now, I'm relieved that the procedure is over and soon we can relax a little bit and get excited about being pregnant. Now I'm just hoping for a smooth, event free recovery (some of the potential side effects are downright gross and scary). DH is really struggling... he's very sad today. I'm hoping heading back into work tomorrow will help him move forward.
I am a little sad, but mostly I'm feeling relieved. Relieved that we don't have to fret over our decision any more, relieved that twins will most likely be healthier than triplets would have been, and relieved that we don't have to lie or hide anything anymore. We have a few close family members who knew about triplets but not about the reduction, so we'll be telling them that we lost one, but for the most part, we have told people its twins anyway.
But the exciting part! I got to see our (now) twins for the firsttime in almost a month! They have you wait about 30 minutes after the procedure to check on everyone, and they looked like babies! With cute little potbellies! And we were going to hold out until our next u/s to find out the sexes of the babies, but I could tell DH needed some good news. So we are Team PURPLE! We couldn't be happier.
Thanks for all your support & hugs & good vibes, it really made the long wait at the doctor's office less painful. Now to try to relax for the next few days/weeks...
