I'm starting to see why people rehome animals because they weren't ready for one. I know it's sad, and people should definitely think before they get an animal, but if they genuinely thought they wanted one and then realized they couldn't do it, I think it's responsible to rehome rather than not give the animal what they deserve. I guess that's an UO.
My FFFC, I kinda want to return our puppy. I don't think we will because despite what I said above, I would just feel terrible about it. I do love her, but we weren't prepared for how much work she would be along with LO. I let her out this morning and she pooped and peed. Then 20 minutes later she pooped again in the kitchen. Ahh!
Then my stupid DH uses empty bottles to spit his tobacco in. I told him when LO was born he had to start using spill proof spittoons, but he swore he'd keep them capped. Well LO picked up and dumped out an uncapped one this morning. Thankfully she didn't drink it but it got all over her, the carpet and her activity table. Once she was cleaned up, I cleaned up the other mess but the puppy wouldn't leave the spot alone, then she kept grabbing the paper towel and running away with it. It appears that the inmates are indeed running the asylum.
But we are enrolling her in puppy classes soon and hopefully things will drastically improve once she's housetrained. I just long for the days when I just had one cat.
Maybe I should rehome DH if he doesn't get the spit problem resolved.
1. I let LO play in her crib longer than normal after her nap yesterday because I was watching Magic Mike for the first time. 2. I wasn't that impressed.
Also a stupid solicitor came to the door while I watching it and I had the windows open. I scrambled so bad to turn it off before he got the door, hahah!

We got a puppy a month ago and we are dealing with ALL the issues you are so I definitely feel Ya! It's ALOT of work and overwhelming at times I wish we could take her back too but then I think about when she gets better behaved it'll be a nice companion for the kids. We have two older dogs who are thee best dogs anyone could ask for and I try to be optimistic that someday she will be the same even when times are tough now. Hang in there. Oh and a piece of advice, socialize socialize socialize while she is a pup so that when she grows up she doesn't be anti social around people and other dogs will make doing things and having her a whole lot easier IMO

So good to know it's not just us, I was feeling like a terrible person for wanting to give her back. I think of that too, how much we'll love her and she'll be like a best friend for LO once she grows up a bit and isn't so wild. We have a dog park close by that has a puppy/small dog section so I think as soon as I figure out what we have to do to go, I'll take her to meet some other pups. My inlaws and my stepmom both have dogs so I plan to introduce her to them soon as well.

angelsnight I hope that things get better with your puppy. I'm very much for keeping an animal that you have committed to, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. We got a cat when we first moved into our house and I felt like she was ruining my life. She was SUCH a bad fit for our family. Thankfully with small puppies, they are pretty trainable. I think, like mrssmith613 said, it will be helpful to bring her to a dog park. She will be able to run off all kinds of puppy energy. I'm not a dog expert by any means, but are you crate training your puppy at all? We did this with my little dog when we got her, and while it was completely heart breaking to have her whine and cry, it worked really well for us to house train her.
My FFFC: Not too serious of one, but LO's dinner tonight consisted of popcorn, chocolate milk, and gold fish. Mom of the year right here.
I don't have a problem with a family returning a puppy that is not a good fit. My problem is when people try to rehome an older dog just because they are moving and the new place don't take pets, well, find a freaking place that does To me that is not a good reason to kick out a family member. The only ok situation is moving overseas.

maganonymous, thanks, yes we are crate training her. So far she doesn't love her crate, so I think we are doing something wrong. But as soon as I get a few quotes, we are going to set up private training sessions. I was going to do group classes, but I am so clueless on dogs, I want all the time for myself, haha.
We also have a dog park nearby and as soon as she gets her next set a vacs I can get her registered to go. I'm looking forward to that.
Just today she started biting harder and nipped LO a few times a made her cry. I felt so bad, in that instant I was ready to throw in the towel, but I realize she is just being a puppy. So I read online ways to get your puppy to stop biting people, and I tried it and it worked! Still have a long way to go, but I feel like there is hope
zandeela, my sister and husband and 2 kids and 2 dogs moved from Boston to Frankfurt, Germany! They did everything they had to do in order to take the dogs! It's really not that hard! And they have since moved to Switzerland!

^^
I feel you both. We have the 8 month lab at home. Some days, I'm so overwhelmed by him. This is our second attempt at a dog since we've been married. The last dog ate pieces of my oldest son. He was not well.
It will get better. I should take ours to obedience school... but who has time for that???
Tuesday confession? (Sorry I'm behind the times here). I forgot my mom's birthday. thank goodness she reminded me unintentionally the day before. I also forgot DH's grandma's birthday which is on that same day. Thank goodness facebook reminded me. I fail. I've got to hurry up and get my mom a present before I see her again.
