Ok I have a real one - I think it's rediculous that a country that is a world super power and leader has no maternity leave policy or federal health system.

I think the new (or at least new in my area) essential oils craze is ridiculous. I just don't buy the theory that overpriced oils are going to cure any and all ailments.

It is ridiculous. This shouldn't be an unpopular opinion.

I like chocolate in my pancakes, peanut butter m&m's, free speech which includes satirical drawings of anybody, thing, idea, etc., and I think it is ridiculous that the US has no maternity/parental policies.
Not sure how I feel about Obama's idea to have two years of free community college. The idea sounds great; however, everybody isn't cut out for college and I have huge concerns about what that would look like - you know the professors wouldn't be paid well so would the education even be that great?

I don't think parents should have the option of opting out of vaccines that schools require. Of course I know there will be legit exceptions.
I'm actually not sure if this is an UO.
Not a UO in my book!
Maybe it's just where we live but the anti vax is strong here. I actually ask people before they bring their kids over if their immunized and I've asked a few not to come. Yeah, I'm that mom.
True. But if I'm not mistaken it's a much stronger feeling for Muslims. I can't speak for Judaism, but in Christianity we have images of God that are 'okay'. I don't think 'okay' images exist in Islam.
Putting theologian hat on...
The reason images of God were deemed okay in Christianity is because of the incarnation. Since God became human in Jesus, then images of God became permitted in that way.
There was a whole controversy about that in the 8th century that was ruled on by the second council at Nicaea. It, of course, reappears periodically because images of God seem to go against the Ten Commandments, depending on how you interpret them.

Not a fan of facial hair. Like man buns- haha. I had a crush on a guy that frequented my favorite coffee place during college that wore man buns. I called him bunboy! Haha. It was not meant to be : (
No doubt the Arab population are treated poorly & ostracized in France. Also all throughout Europe. Even though Charlie Hedbo's cartoon could be deemed offensive, that seems to me almost irrelevant as far as this incident goes because there is no defense to their violence. But Europe does need to examine how they treat their immigrants.
Love only dark chocolate & all have all the coffee thank you. I prefer bitter to sweet.

I have a lumber-sexual who was doing it before it was cool. He is the hairiest man on the planet, but is losing it on his head, so he keeps his shaved and a neat, trimmed beard. He looks ridiculous any other way....
I'm generally pretty friendly and easy going, but when you deliberately go out of your way to undermine me, don't expect me to smile and play nice (just because I work in a somewhat political environment). I'm going to let you know your behaviour is not cool, I know this puts a target on my back and seeing that I am only 33 I constantly get the argument that I have many years left in the workplace, learn how "navigate the waters' a little more deftly if you will. But fuck that, my integrity means a lot to me. So I play straight, I tell people clearly what I need, I trust my internal compass, and I say eff it, if that makes me unpopular with people, so be it. At least I have my integrity.

Most professors already aren't being paid well...
And plenty need jobs in their field. I for one would love to teach at a community college full time if they paid decent and offered benefits.

Europe has free college. I went a year in Germany to their uni. But there are trade offs with a free system. I remember trying to go to a class really early to get a seat. Sometimes ppl ended up in desks outside the classroom or on the floor. And ppl are put on a vocational or uni tract back in grade school. USA has great schools, but it is hard that most ppl end up deep in debt before they start their career. It has become too expensive here. & to top things off student debt is incredibly hard to discharge. It is virtually nondischaregable debt unless you suffer a permanent severe disability.

Agreed athn64. There are legitimate reasons not to, but I feel that doctors are signing off on exemptions way too easily in many cases. Dr. Google ain't a real doctor!

I agree with the Dr Google thing for certain. I mostly am just against a parent being able to say no because of "personal beliefs" especially when they are not religious ones.

I have unfriended many a person b/c of this.
Same. Hate it. Unfriend. And she always smells weird. Friend+oil=weird smell.
Can someone explain what religions are against vaccines (for real) and what there reasoning is?
The Christian Science church stays away from almost all modern medicine, under the belief that prayer is the way to healing and health. Here's a quote from Wikipedia.
All healing is a metaphysical process. That means that there is no person to be healed, no material body, no patient, no matter, no illness, no one to heal, no substance, no person, no thing and no place that needs to be influenced. This is what the practitioner must first be clear about.
The Amish as well, but they also don't mingle with outsiders much.
