1. Are you a current, recovering or recovered insomnia sufferer? I'm Narcoleptic. Bouts of insomnia are inevitable.
2. Did you always suffer from insomnia or was there a trigger? I've had extended periods of insomnia since I was very young. I also had night terrors for a long time. In hindsight, symptoms of narcolepsy started appearing in college. It hit full force in my early twenties.
3. What are you doing to treat or cope? Is it working? Since lowering the Ambiem CR from 12.5mg to 6.25mg I feel like i'm actually getting a better night's sleep. The past couple weeks I've actually been getting tired at a reasonable hour. The only problem is that I wake up in the middle of the night now. It's weird though because i'm not really bothered by it.
4. Any major break-through lately that has helped you sleep better? I moved down to the 6.25 month ago so I don't know what the difference is the past few weeks. I'll never be able to wean completely off of sleep medications, but that's life with Narcolepsy.
5. GTKY---What is your favorite spring/summer activity? Listening to music out on the deck.
1. Are you a current, recovering or recovered insomnia sufferer? Recovered!
2. Did you always suffer from insomnia or was there a trigger? I was triggered at 4 months PP and it lasted until 15 months PP.
3. What are you doing to treat or cope? Is it working? I stopped caring so much about whether I slept well or not and that did the trick. It was really hard to come to that acceptance, but once I did I realized how closely linked my heart racing was to not sleeping (due to anxiety that I wasn't going to get a good night's sleep).
4. Any major break-through lately that has helped you sleep better? About 2 months ago was my breakthrough so I'm doing great now
5. GTKY---What is your favorite spring/summer activity? Drinking coffee coolers in the sun while reading a book on a warm summer day
