Ireland becomes first country to legalize same sex marriage

Pretty impressive for them to take such strides in such a short amount of time.

Is there any statistic on how many Americans are for/opposed to gay marriage?  (too lazy to research).

I feel like there are several things that the majority of Americans support yet it takes forever for any legislation to change.  The same goes vice versa.

I know Pope Francis doesn't condone gay marriage, but he has definitely gotten people to relax on the hate surrounding the LGBT community.

*fist pump* Go Ireland! To me, this seems like such a huge step in the right direction for recognizing same-sex couples and unions. I can only hope that the US gets on board with this in the future.

I think this is wonderful news. I would have been very surprised if it had not passed, as it was legalized by England and Wales not too long ago. Despite the continued struggle over Northern Ireland, they still have alot of similar policies.
