I would LOVE to go the aquarium, too. We haven't been with DS since he turned one. He loved it then, but I bet he would love it even more now.
Let's do it! Ms favorite is watching the turtles get fed and waving at scuba divers.
Also. When we were kids there weren't toys in the library were there?? The first time I took M I was all whispering and then suddenly it was like toddler play time.

Definitely not. They don't have toys in the one I went to today, but it was definitely a way different atmosphere than when I was a kid. I remember the children's section as being super quiet just like the adult section, but with picture books.

They might stoney. I was seriously clueless about where they were coming from until last week when I realized you check them out but keep them in the library. Like train sets and American girl dolls. If they add coffee I'll be there every day.

Yeah, definitely not. The children's section of our library is segregated to a separate floor and has toys. Growing up, it was definitely quiet with picture books.
And I would love to go back to the aquarium again! I must admit that I think I was wayyyy more into it than H was. I mean, he liked it - though I was super into the stingrays and sharks in the touch tank (touching them!) and he was more into splashing, and then crying when I made him get down.
And then he was REALLY into watching the people in wetsuits scrubbing the huge rocks in the penguin tank.
So, grumpycakes, I bet E would be even more excited now.

S just bought a smart thermostat (ecobee) that is supposed to save up to 20% electric costs over standard thermostats. So that should help save some green!
We tried homemade dish detergent, too, but it was a big flop. So we're back to cascade. Oh well.
I grew up an avid reader so a quiet library was blissful, but my library was quiet because the librarian took her shushing duty seriously. Even though the kids section was its own floor.
Question for you all. I'd like to make a sensory board for my daughter Q, who is almost 5 months old. There are so many different options on Pinterest. Do any of you have recommendations for items that are good/bad to use?
I just made those banana oatmeal cookies tonight. They're just banana and oats and surprisingly good. I ate them while pregnant and now I think M will like them. I'm trying to decide how much sweets she should have at various points in her life, because of how much sweets are available to her through my bakery and these seem like s comfortable place to start.
Do they have Pyrex that nests/stacks well? All I have seen aren't very compact and I have a very small space they have to fit into. Can the lids go in the microwave?

katej11 I would try to start with inexpensive materials and things you already have it you can (in case she doesn't get into it). In not sure exactly what type of board you're picturing. Will it be flat, or will any of the parts fit in her mouth?
doeie04 I can't remember the brand of glassware we have, but it is not a super space saver bc there are round, square, and rectangular containers. I'd look for one with all the same shape if I were you. I also do not use the kids in the microwave. We have a splatter shield instead.
The ones I bought today all happen to be round. The smaller sizes fit in to the larger sizes but the ones that are the same size stack up kinda high. Not exactly nested but not totally crazy.
I never looked if the lids could go in the microwave because we also just have a splatter shield that we use.

I have the same set as SAK but with colorful lids. I think they stack pretty well. Lids are microwave and fridge/freezer safe.
To all fellow library fans, our library started an awesome reading challenge. "1,000 Books Before Kindergarten". The challenge is to read 3 books/day to/with your child and in a year, that is 1,095 books! They gave us reading logs and there are prizes for every 250 books.
Ours also has a fun baby storytime followed by toddler storytime and craft. There are also free monthly concerts so that's GGTSSG. No coffee though

I just filled up my foam soap dispenser with 1/3 regular liquid hand soap and 2/3 water. It comes out just as soapy and foamy as the original B&BW soap and I like the way it feels on my hands even better. I might be a convert.

I just filled up an empty shampoo bottle with Bronners diluted according to that one link. Let's see if I like that any better than the shampoo I've tried before, and the vinegar/ACV thing.

Does it count when you read the same book 100 times? I'm pretty sure I have some of V's books memorized. This is part of the reason we go to the library, check out more books so I don't go crazy with the same ones at home. We'll check out about 20 at a time.

I barely glance at the pages when I "read" Dr. Suess books now. It's more of a recitation.

If we are on a long car ride, and V starts losing his shit, I might start reciting books from memory for him to calm him down.

At the daycare i worked at we read any random book and then Chicka Chicka Boom Boom every single day before nap time. I had the whole thing memorized so I could clean up and get kids situated on their cots while "reading" it. It's been 4 years since I quit there, and I still have it stuck in my brain, and I start reciting it to my kids every time they start to loose their cool in a public place.

I asked this too when we signed up, and it counts
That's easy then. I counted once and we have almost 100 board books. While it seems like way too many and too much mess some days - we go through to try to put some away for a while and realize we read them ALL and can recite most of them. Heck M can even recite many of the rhyming ones.
I also think its so funny how she gets attached to certain ones at times. Like this month its anything with a moon in it. She knows the pages with the moons, and the pages with a sleeping kid on them. How ironic...she always says "shhhhh" and finds the page with sleeping kids/animals. Before the new year it was anything with a horse. Pigs seem to be on the horizon.
I do wish the library had more board books - she gets mad cuz she can't turn the pages herself with real ones.

This is awesome! Dh and I are both avid readers, we even read aloud to each other for fun, so we really hope to instill of love of reading into L. She already adores books more than anything else so we are off to a good start

We are avid readers too so when I first saw the challenge, I figured who wouldn't complete it? Then MH reminded me my parents never read to me so don't assume and that hopefully this will help parents want to read to their kids.
