Do you think she should see pedi?

So, I feel like DD2 has been sick more often since I started staying home, which is completely the opposite of what I was expecting.  I'm contributing it to her probably being exposed to more germs and places that aren't cleaned often, like grocery carts and the park, etc. 

Anyway, she's had a "cold" for about 3 weeks off and on.  Just a little snot, and a cough periodically, mostly at night. She seems really ok otherwise. No fever. Eating great, sleeping great. Playing normally. 

I'm not really feeling like she needs to see the doctor since she doesn't really seem effected by the cold or whatever it is. Also wondering if it's allergies (tons of pollen flying around here right now) or maybe teething related? (cutting her top 2 year molars the past month).  I hate to drag her to the doctor and expose her to a bunch of crappy germs there if it's not needed- but I also don't want to ignore it if it's something that needs treatment.

Side note- she has a penicillin allergy and so antibiotics are always a little more complicated/scary with her.\

No fever? Happy kid with a runny nose sounds to me like allergies more than anything else. I don't know what it's like where you live, but right now all three of us get the sneezes and runny noses after being outside for a while. Lots of stuff is in bloom right now, so pollen is really high. You could always call the nurse line at your pedi and see if they have any recommendations for OTC symptom-relievers, or if they think you should make an appointment and come in.

I think it sounds like allergies. I took DD a month or two ago because she was miserable and they gave her Flonase and told me to use it until allergy season is over. They also told me I could give her children's zyrtec.

I wouldn't if she doesn't seem bothered by it. My pedi says to come in if a cough lasts 3 weeks without improving but if it's just on and off and she's not affected by it then it's probably allergies. Everyone in my house is a snotty mess.

+1 for possible seasonal allergies. I would call the ped and see what kind of allergy meds you can try with her to see if that helps.

Can you call your pedi and see what they say? It sounds like allergies to me. My pedi recommended giving DD Benadryl for similar symptoms, but it would probably be best to check with yours. Just to let you know though...my pedi warned me to give it during he day to see how she reacted. Apparently it makes most children really sleepy, but some get super active.

I'm sorry your DD is allergic to penicillin. That makes taking antibiotics tricky. IM really allergic to it and it sucks. I hope your DD feels better!

Thanks everyone! Ill give them a call tomorrow and see what they say about some allergy meds.

Sounds like allergies or teething. B has always been snotty and had a cough at night when teething.
