Am I the only one who's lo doesn't like meat yet?
He will pick it out if he can, if it's by itself he won't touch it (unless throwing it on the floor).
I can get him to eat chicken quesadilla or ham & cheese sandwich but that's about it. Rarely he'll eat hamburger in goolash or something but mostly he just eats around it.
Yeah, E started segregating her meat around 10 months. She use to love chicken and steak, but now she won't eat meat unless it's in something else like a quesadilla or ravioli. Occasionally she'll eat grilled chicken sausage. That's pretty much the only meat she'll eat straight pieces of.
There was a question in the dumb babyq's thread about alternative sources of protein too for those who don't like meat. We do a lot of cheese and peanut butter in addition to meat-hiding.
This is such a good question, I'd love to see the answers. For our LO, he loves meat so far. I'm just scared to give him much because I'm afraid he will choke. I do purees when I have time, but for the most part I give LO big bits of stuff to chew (part of a banana, a piece of raisin bread, etc). I have to start doing more purees now because LO seems to be self-weaning and turning down his bottle more often, but then demanding solids. Since I use our baby brezza to puree when I make his meals, I've been trying to remember to add a protein to the usual carrots, squash, etc. I don't often have time to cook chicken or whatever to toss in, so I've been adding beans, spinach, or anything else I've got on hand. it goes over pretty well. LO also loves to eat cheese sticks but lately they've been making him constipated so we cut those out. We also make him eggs on most mornings - he will eat an entire soft boiled egg by himself.
E isn't into beef or chicken. Occasionally will have bbq pork, sausage or ham. Sometimes it's the chewing action that deters them. Or just dislike of the taste.
Add us to the list. I'm the one who asked about alternative proteins for a meat hater. Yesterday he did ok with some finely chopped pork BBQ, but I think it's because he likes the sauce.
Now that I think about it, as a kid I didn't like meat much either. I covered everything in ketchup.
My LO currently is almost always refusing meat. Hiding it in other food doesn't work either. She just spits out the meat and eats the rest. I offer it to her most days, so she continues to see it and be used it. But it's honestly not a huge deal to me if she doesn't eat it because I am a vegetarian. Once in a while she'll eat popcorn chicken if it's dipped in ketchup.

DD is the exact opposite. She's a meat lover. She eats all meats - with mmm sound effects and all. That said, she eats almost anything we put in front of her. She loves her food.
Maybe keep trying different kinds, cooked differed ways with various sauces until you know one LO likes? Are you a big meat eater? Maybe showing you love meat will trick LO into trying it more.
DD1 does not like meat at all...well except for rotisserie chicken from Costco and turkey hot dogs. Weirdo. DD2 loves ALL the meat! Mmm sounds and all lol
LO will only eat meatballs and they are vegetarian. We have tried chicken and turkey meat, but she didn't like either. I need to try again but I always forget.
That's crazy. My T will pick the hamburger patty out of the bun to eat just the meat and cheese. I get a cheeseburger plain and cut it up for her. We also cook ham slices for breakfast on the weekend and we pull it apart and she eats those up too.
Other than that, she is all about picking the meat out of whatever she has and leaving the rest. Guess she's more like me than I thought, neither of us are big bread eaters.
