Did chicken with apple and broccoli and it came out really dry, added water and it was still gross. We do puffs but mainly just for motor skill practice. Sometimes he gets them in, most times he doesn't. He does better with the gerber crunchies (they look like mini cheese doodles).
My LO is an eater! We are BLW once-twice a day. She's had avocado, sweet potato, apple, banana, ground beef, tortilla and pears, baked potato. So far her fave is a frozen mix of avocado, pear and spinach that she feeds herself with the mesh feeder. She gets mad when it's all gone!
gldnbearz - I puree two small avocados, one pear, and a handful of baby spinach, then pour in a freezer mold with small squares. Let it thaw for a few minutes then cut in chunks and put in the mesh feeder!
DD turns 6 months in a few days, which is when our pediatrician said for us to start baby food. For all you ladies already on solids with your LO's, do you notice them drinking less milk, or about the same? We won't be back for DD's 6 month appointment until after we start solids. Thanks!

No change in frequency in breastfeeding for us. We started solids at 5.5 months
kaimee27 - my Lo still bf's the same. Mine will be 7 months old on Wed & I do sweet potato or pea purée at least once a day. I put fruit in the mesh feeder. Today I attempted chicken & it did not go over well. I've also given him some of the little puffs, but like littleapplemom it's more for his motor skills.
I'm really bad. We give DD food every once in a while but that's because her eczema flares after almost everything she eats. She is allergic to eggs, peanuts, tree nuts and sensitivity to milk. She tested negative to banana so I thought it was safe but she got severe hives. She also had a reaction to avocados and peas. I'm scared to give her anything else.
We do purees twice a day and occasional BLW, depending on what we are having. We have done sweet potato, carrots, pears, blueberries, strawberries, avacado, bananas, applesauce, yogurt and probably a few more I am forgetting. I make my own and freeze most of it in ice cube trays. Then I transfer the cubes to freezer bags and label them. I sometimes mix oatmeal cereal in with fruits. We do puffs too, which he loves!
LO has cereal once a day and purées twice a day. I have been making my own and have been a bit slow about introducing new foods lately. He loves sweet potato and hates green beans. He has also had avocado, banana, pears, peas, prunes, peaches, and apricots. I plan to try chicken next - his first meat.
I am thinking about trying one of those mesh feeders.
sjp03, I like the mesh feeders. I clip a pacifier clip to the handle and then to his bib because he likes to throw things. I've read a lot about people hating to clean them. I don't really find it an issue because I stay at home and I'm washing bottles anyway. Once he is done, I just rinse it out real well, and do a quick clean. Doesn't get all stuck because I do it right away. You don't want it sitting with say a banana in there for hours as I'm sure it is mighty disgusting.
I've got 3 mesh feeders, just in case one got gross. He loves it.

kaimee27, food shouldn't start replacing milk until closer to a year. I bf, so I don't have exact measurements of how much M is eating, but to me he's nursing the exact same amount as before we started solids a week ago. I also nurse him right before (or within like 45 minutes) of giving him food. At this point, if he swallows any, great. If not, that's fine as well.
