Thanks ladies!!
I did a little shopping & some recipe hunting and I'm feeling better about it
This morning t & I had whole wheat sweet potato pancakes & mandarins oranges and then some yogurt melts.
For lunch we are going to have Mac & cheese and veggies
I picked up a lot of things you all suggested too and I'm planning to make veggie muffins & some other things this week too. Should be able to keep him full! You all were right he ate way more when I was eating the same thing. He kept wanting bites of the one on my hands vs the one on the tray lol. He eats at weird times (10 & 2 or 3) but I'll adjust.
I used to cook a lot. I just haven't gotten back into the habit / routine of doing it since LO & I feel less than motivated to cook after he goes to bed so we've been eating a lot of easy prep / frozen types of foods...and I don't want to give him those. I really just need to start cooking & eating the things I want him to eat...I guess. I'll probably also make & freeze some good bite size recipes I'm finding online...and maybe start snacking on them myself .
Seriously, where do you all find the time / energy to cook? We have a mad rush from the time we get home until bedtime....and then it's a late dinner & prep for the next day.
I do most of my cooking on the weekends and make enough to have leftovers all week. I'm also trying to use my crockpot more, but I'm not very successful.
Also, LO doesn't always eat the same thing we eat. I'd like to transition her to eating our meals but we don't always eat very healthy. I'll cook extra of whatever LO is going to eat (mixed veggies, pasta, etc.) so all I have to do is heat it up and put it on her tray. Most of the stuff she eats doesn't require a lot of prep. But I agree with a notyourmom, it's taken time to get her to eat all of this. She went through a phase a few weeks ago where all she wanted was purees and this was after eating lots of finger foods. I also think daycare helps with the variety. She's started eating most of their breakfast and lunch options. And we don't have a lot of downtime/playtime in the evenings - maybe 30 minutes, if we're lucky.
I was just telling dh that if I start eating how I want lo to eat I'm going to eat so healthy!! Haha more full fat things maybe than I'm used to but also lots more fruits & veggies
Ya when we eat she eats. She's on our schedule not vice versa. But when that doesn't work she just eats when I need a break. She eats slowly and very sweetly (ie one pea at a time etc)

My LO eats slowly but definitely not sweetly! She grabs handfuls and shovels them in her mouth! LOL! A lot of food ends up in her bib or on her lap!

Ya she eats peas one at a time. It takes forever. She does mash things on occasion but overall she's pretty dainty. I see all these pictures where the kids are messy and she's never too bad. She even eats off a plate!!! Don't get me wrong. Sometimes she tries to throw it but only a few times at the beginning. Now she's cool w it

T eats slowly & pretty neatly considering. His nap schedule interrupts him eating when I would normally eat & since it works for him I don't want to mess with it.
Oh I wouldn't screw w nap time. Sometimes she misses lunch w us. Breakfast on the weekends and then we do a snack while she eats dinner. We eat once she's down

My LO is super messy as well. Pretty much all of her PJ pants have stains on them at this point. I keep thinking I should take off her pants to eat but I never do, lol.

Finger foods for the win! Here he is enjoying veggie pancakes (also had manderin oranges, cheerios & yogurt melts), and mac & cheese and squash.
I had to shrink this picture a lot to be able to post it...is that normal? PS - those of you not on FB may not have seen many pics of LO, I'm taking advantage that this won't come up in google!
These are all tries, but not consistent. He does alot of playing, but is getting better at feeding himself. I also have bought frozen veggies, and just put a small amount in the microwave with a little water to cook. Helps me not waste as much food with him if I cooked fresh veggies.
My boyfriend really stepped it up this weekend and today. He initiated giving her a waffle (probably because he bought a huge family size box) and she loved it. He allowed the orange and he seemed to enjoy picking stuff out at the grocery store for her to try. She also had cheddar cheese today.
Tonight we gave her some homemade chili and sriracha carrot hummus on flat bread for dinner. There is nothing wrong with giving babies spicy stuff, right? She loved both.

I don't see too much wrong as long as it's not super spicy. Just watch for reactions with her poop or diaper rash? But I'm not an expert

So cute!! Veggie pancakes sound like an awesome finger food! How did you make those?? I'm glad he is liking all those foods!
Yes, I had the same issue with the picture I posted!
LO tried corn cakes today! She almost always gets a bunch of food on the floor/highchair....but nothing was left anywhere except her tummy when she was eating the corn cake! I kept checking underneath her legs etc...but poof gone! I also guess the dog might have scooped it up!

katie1885 - I found a whole wheat pancake recipe on teenytinyfoodie & then modified it (left out salt & sugar, added in apple sauce & a stage 2 squash). They were actually good, I ate a couple (you know, because he wants to eat what I'm eating).
But now that I'm looking at it, basically I used it as a guideline for how much flour, milk, eggs & yogurt (I used plain whole milk, not greek), and the baking soda. I didn't add in any of the other things she had listed & then just used one apple sauce (motts naturals) and one stage 2 veggie. It made a lot, we froze them & I reheated it a little in a pan the next day (we don't have a toaster oven yet) and he loved them!
