britbratjf's post got me thinking it would be fun to hear about everyone's birthday party plans. I'm an awkward hostess (even for 3 year olds), so I'd love to hear your ideas for entertaining and such.
We are doing a July 4 Peppa Pig themed party. Hamburgers, hot dogs and muddy puddles, of course! Don't worry, muddy puddles will be like mini chocolate trifles. We will also be doing lots of red, white and blue foods and drinks. We like to keep things simple, but fun too. July 4 makes things easier since it's a holiday and an easy one at that. Who doesn't like fireworks on their birthday? Costco is our best friend! You just have to doctor up some of their foods and you are good to go.
We will do a small party for Henry with my parents and my sister's family. Minion themed (which basically means minion cake, plates, and a few decorations) & we will bbq. We were not planning a big party.

Well you already heard mine Luckily my family owns several restaurants so we are having them cater. It'll be about 35 people - that's immediate family, Dagnys friends & their parents.
I'm having a small party for D with our neighbors. I'm thinking we'll get the sprinkler, chalk, and bubbles out, toss some water balloons, and have some lunchy/snacky food. He has requested green cupcakes.
Since we're taking Elena on her first camping trip this year we're going to do a camping themed party. Hamburgers, hotdogs, cake, and s'mores. I found a few ideas on pinterest for snacks, like teddy grahams with a sign on the bowl that says "don't feed the bears". It'll probably be about 25 people.

We are having our party at a park nearby our house. We are renting a bounce house and ordering a bunch of pizzas from Costco. It's going to be Big Hero 6 themed. The bounce house will have a poster of the characters and I'll get some balloons. It's in a week and a half. Just going easy this time.
Emma wants a 'purple princess chocolate chip cookie' birthday party. I'm getting a cookie cake, some purple balloons, purple plates, etc., some princess wands/crowns from the dollar tree, and some snacks from Costco. The kids will play outside on the Swingset, in the sandbox, and I might set some bubbles out. I don't do organized activities though. Most of the kids will be family or neighbors. I ordered her a purple princess dress and she is going to die when she sees it! I'm pretty excited for her to see it. It was a steal on etsy.
We're having a humongous bash because it's an excuse to get people out to see our new house. We invited pretty much everyone we know (family, neighbors, and friends), totaling about 120. Guessing about 75 will filter in and out if that since it's graduation season.
Theme is avengers, specifically Thor, which just means a Thot shirt, cape, and hammer, for A, and I have red and blue plates. Activities will just be outdoor play. Food will be burgers, dogs, and cake.
It's been a bitch to put together since DH's friends are typically pot-luck and pee-in-the-woods types, while my friends are catering/Pinterest folks. We're having to do a lot of compromising.
We are having a pirate pool party. We will have our favorite bbq place cater again. The favors will be pirate towels. And I'm doing a punch box instead of a pinata. And I'm going to put treasure in the sand box.

Not really planning a party... He keeps saying he wants a farm birthday party and there is a petting farm not too far away I was thinking we could take him there in the morning and then maybe just have the family over for dinner and cake.
We are having a small BBQ gathering at our house. We are only inviting our few friends that have kids that Kayleigh plays with and the other three kids in her daycare class. So at most 7 kids and 10 adults. It will be Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed. We're not doing too much in the way of planned activities. We'll set up the kiddie pool, sprinkler and we are renting a bounce house. We have a playset as well. Hopefully the weather is nice... I've been looking up decorations and activities on pinterest so we'll see how much energy I have to possibly do some of that.
Ours is just family so it's normally just cake and ice cream and doesn't last very long. If there were going to be a bunch of kids, I would put out some simple snacks as well. Also, in the summer, you can't go wrong with pools, slip n slides, or sprinklers.
On his actual birthday we are just going to have a fun day and then have family over for dinner and cake. That weekend we are having a celebration for T, my mom and sister since they all have birthdays in the same week. We are going to a local baseball game and rented a party deck. We invited two families with kids T's age. Should be a good time. He might even throw out the first pitch!
Another big bash here, July 5th on her actual birthday! About 70 adults and 25 kids or so.
We are having a cowgirl/western theme and will have a Pony and a Horse at the house giving rides for an hour or so from a local farm. As well as the usual mini bouncy house and mini water slide i borrow from a friend each year so far.
Last year we ordered a bunch of 8 foot subs as the main food and had a ton of sides. Way too hot to grill for 100 people that weekend which we found out on her first birthday, my husband was busy grilling the whole day and was drenched in sweat so he said no major grilling again on her bday.
I'll maybe do cupcakes with mini horses on top and I made "Wanted, Reward $10,000" posters for each kid invited that I'll hang on a wall outside. (pics of them i scooped from ig and from my sisters fb so should be cute) That's as far as I've gotten so far! Invites are going out tomorrow! I can't believe she is going to be 3!!!
We are having a pirate pool party. We will have our favorite bbq place cater again. The favors will be pirate towels. And I'm doing a punch box instead of a pinata. And I'm going to put treasure in the sand box.
I'm not planning a party yet and really hadn't even thought about one. Usually we just have a small get together with family that lives close by. i do know that my dad's family will all be up here around the 4th so maybe I'll do something small then. She really only has one friend from DC that's a year younger.
Otherwise I was just thinking of having a get together and grilling out. We'll probably have to have it at my parent's house. Or worst case I might just have it at Pizza Ranch ( a pizza buffet) and just bring a cake. We'll see how I feel closer to it, lol
The weekend of her actual birthday we might as a family go to the zoo or something. That's what we did last year for both V and Hanna's bday. We might hit up a kiddie amusement park in IA that looked like it had a lot of kiddie rides for her.
We are doing a short and sweet Little Gym party with family and a few friends. Not sure about food but likely pizza and apps. Haven't decided on a theme either, it's getting harder to come up with something that reflects both of their interests. So far thinking either generic superhero or Dr. Seuss.

Um, we're not having one.
I know, right?
My family is spread all over the place and there are baby showers and several weddings going on over the next 8 months, so I would rather not ask people to make another trip. My parents will come over to celebrate and we'll do cake (maybe cupcakes since Riley is obsessed) and either the zoo or the waterpark. We'll also do a small thing with my IL's. But we likely won't have a party until next year or the following, which will probably include friends.

We are doing an Avengers themed party (shocker there). He also wants Anna and Elsa to come. A friend of mine has loooooong, gorgeous blonde hair and big eyes so she agreed to dress up as Elsa for us. I need an Anna, but I absolutely cannot afford to pay to rent characters. They start at like $400 an hour. Nope nope nope. So we will at least have Elsa there. I want to do Avengers themed food (Green Hulk punch, and I need to think of others) and I rented out a shelter at a park. Super cheap, the park is right there, and should be fun.
I am thinking either a pinata, or buying Hulk gloves and letting the kids take turns "Hulk Smash"-ing ice cream cones or something. I saw it on Pinterest and it was cute, but I am not buying a set of Hulk Gloves for each kid that comes.

We are doing a construction theme party on his actual birthday, July 11th. The guest list is the same as last year, so close family and friends with kids. There's about 20 people total. We're having it at our house and will get out the sprinkler, kiddie pool and water table like last year. Liam's big gift from us this year is a sandbox, so we'll get a lot of diggers and that will also be entertainment for the kids.
As far as food, I just want simple this year so we'll do a build-your-own sandwich bar and I'll make a bunch of sides. I'm really looking forward to making his cake this year!
We are doing a BBQ in the back yard. It will be race car themed, but I am not going crazy with the theme. We are going to have a kiddy pool set up and a sprinkler. We will also have the volleyball net for adults. I might look into making a race track for the kids to run around and race.

Emmy and my nephew are 3 days shy of being exactly a year apart so the his mom asked to share the party...which means basically all the planning falls to me. Not in a bad way, my SIL is super busy with work right now and it's always been my thing to enjoy planning parties. I'm just kind of swamped with my own stuff this year. So this year we're doing a bouncey place party with overly expensive pizza and drinks, where all I have to do is show up with cake.

We rented a local farm. They have lots of animals for apetting zoo sort of atmosphere then they give hay rides through the afernoon. We will serve lunch. I don't really have any other activities planned but I may or may not do a pinata. I finally decided on a theme of "Time Flies" since Cosette was all over the place with 10 different suggestions a day. We'll serve lunch with butterfly themed ideas. My mom is in town YEAH! and I'm inviting kids and friends/family we know. It's summer so you never know how many people will show, big or small it will be fun no matter what.
justbeth, I LOVE that dress - I looked at it in pink for Cosette and still might copy you - it's so adorable!

I know the theme is Minnie Mouse. As of right now I'm planning on getting a bouncy house and having themed food at our new house. If we aren't getting settled in quickly enough (we close June 3) we'll have it at Monkey Joe's. They make you buy their pizza so that'll be our food.
Either way we'll have 20-30 adults and 10ish kids.
I think that's fine summergirl1211! No need for a party every year. I wasn't sure we would do a party this year, but we had 2 birthday parties this month and Dylan had so much fun that I want to do something small for him this year.

Can we just come and hang out with you at the zoo?

It is a box with holes cut out. Each hole is covered with tissue paper and you punch though to get your prize(s) I thought it was lame at first, but thinking about a bunch of 3 year olds and a pinata is just a recipe for disaster.
