This week although short, seemed so long. Isaac had his well visit and shots. He surprised us by only crying during the shots and then being a happy active baby all day. I decided to start a daily log and require my MIL to fill it out. I also am preparing bottles the night before as well as planning the purees. She was annoyed but I told her that me and the pediatrician came up with the plan (which is true). Also, I started a blog for funsies. I have a lot of networking friends and school friends who like this guest post I did for someone and asked me to start one. I love to write but haven't in a long time. First I was like what do I write? Now I can't stop.
Helloooooo! I feel like it has been forever since I last posted. Okay, maybe a week, but it was nice to sort of just turn off the technology for the week. Memorial day weekend was so busy, Liam had so much fun and we discovered the best cure for the eczema on his face- fresh air and being outside! His skin has never looked so clear. Of course, now that we had a few stormy days it's creeping back in.
H's stepmom is coming today so I can get some work done.
Hope everyone is doing well! Liam had his well check up this week and he has only gained 2 lbs and 1 inch since his 4 month. I figured he was definitely plateauing because he is still wearing size 9-12 months. He's been wearing that size since he was 4 months. The dr thinks we are just catching him right before a growth spurt and isn't concerned. I freaked out a little and started offering him bigger bottles. So far he is now eating the 7 oz most of the time. He was usually cleaning up the bottle at 6 oz, but whenever I made 7 he still stopped at 6. He is still in the 90th percentile for everything. 80-something for weight. 90's for head and height.

jjh1119- Fresh air cures all things! And breastmilk. Lol. Have you tried an colloidal based oatmeal cream? Isaac has the same issue but calming oatmeal based treatments will help soothe the skin. Also if he has trouble with heat rashes, try some cornstarch. Sorry I got a little carried away, I love talking skin care.
songbirdsinging55, we have tried everything, poor thing. I wish I was still breastfeeding him, I would put BM on it if I could lol. We've done colloidal oatmeal creams, DML and Stelatopia (not oatmeal) but they are the only things that keep it from getting really gross. I'll put diaper rash cream on it occasionaly (Honest co)

MsNicole06- I don't know if that will go again the TOU here. I have a lot of ideas for content. I also have friends in both the tech and beauty industry that will be writing guest posts. I am excited to try it. I don't know how often I will write but I thought why not?

TGIF!! Baby's first tooth has officially arrived! Perhaps as a result, she also actually swallowed her first food, too! She grabbed a cracker out of my hand yesterday and seemed to really enjoy gnawing on it. Welcome back jjh1119 and hurray for putting your foot down with monster-in-law songbirdsinging55!

zengal, awww first tooth!! Levi popped his through last Fri. and I saw his second one yesterday. It's crazy how quick our LO are growing up.
Going garage sale shopping today. There are 2 subdivision sales right next to my house. I'm hoping to find a good structured baby carrier. We'll see. Another plus it's the weekend which means DH get's up with LO and I get to sleep... YAY!!!!
TGIF! I tried a little Ferber last night, it's getting a little ridiculous, I feed him like 3 times till he is passed out and we gently lay him down and pray his eyes stay shut. Every night is stressful bc of this little dance. Took like 25-30 mins total, no crazy screaming, just some yelling. His voice is horse today though, I feel really bad! I want to not let him cry tonight, but I think I should try to be consistent? What do you think?

Happy Friday! Myles got his first tooth this week too! I'm wondering if the second is right behind it because he has not been sleeping well.
We're working on floor time around here. I've always made sure he gets plenty of floor time, but lately I think I've been swooping in too much. I scoot his toys closer and the second he seems frustrated, I help him. This week I've been trying to let him figure things out on his own a bit more. He has been doing a few face plants (soft landings, I swear!), and he has to work harder to get his toys. It's fun to watch, but it's also hard not to help him all the time.
spiraltheory, We do the same thing over here. I try to let him figure things out. He's a smart little dude and usually can. Takes a lot for him to get frustrated, too. He can sit up really well and has learned to protect his falls with his hands. I'm always right there, but starting to trust his sitting up a lot more. I have a large stuffed moose behind him so if he falls and I don't catch him in time he lands softly on the moose if he goes backward and can't control himself.
I'm working on clapping, high fives, and waving. He does none of those things, still .He's not even close to clapping. he "high fives" but he just puts his hand in ours when we raise it haha. And we got an *almost* wave the other day. He lifted his arm. haha. I counted it.
songbirdsinging55 Way to go for setting some more structure for your MIL! She has no reason to be annoyed, those things are exactly what you'd be doing if your LO was going to daycare.
spiraltheory I've been letting LO play on the floor by herself way more lately. She does really well if I just put her on a blanket with toys scattered around her and walk away. I just check on her every few minutes without her seeing me. If she sees me, she starts fussing. I've been pleasantly surprised at how well she can play by herself! I've also been reading to her a lot and working with her on sitting up and standing.
We have been shield-free for 2 days now! I am so excited. Hopefully fewer clogged ducts, less time spent cleaning and keeping track of them, and easier NIP. Yay!

Be consistent!! My thought process is - if you're not consistent, then that first night of crying really was for nothing. You're teaching him how to fall asleep on his own and he will only sleep better! At least that was the case for both of my kids.

Hey ladies, happy Friday! jjh1119 I look lo to her 6 month appt yesterday and she had only gained one pound since her last appointment! I also freaked out a bit but the doctor said it was nothing to worry about. I guess if they are still hitting milestones and growing somewhat it is fine. songbirdsinging55 good for you for coming up with a schedule, that's a great idea to keep things consistent when you are not around
The doc let me put off shots yesterday because lo is still trying to get better from her ear infection. I was happy she's letting me do it in a few weeks but part of me wishes we could have just gotten it over with. zengal yay for first tooth! I keep waiting for lo to get one, I wonder if I'll feel it before I see it  Today is lo's long day at daycare. I don't know why I feel nervous because she does really well. I'm going over on my lunch to try and nurse her....I'm scared she will be crying or something (which she probably won't be!)
We are working on sitting up and staying on her tummy (she immediately rolls over)

So I'm busy watching my new neighbors move in. I'm supper bummed because they have an 8 month old and its a boy. There are only boys in our neighborhood. Poor DD doesn't have any girls to play with (I know she can play with boys but I'm thinking of a BFF like I had down the street). There are a few teenage girls but no one close to her age. Hopefully a nice family with a girl close to her age will move in when she's ready for playmate.

MsNicole06, I love my neighborhood it is full of new families. However, I have the opposite problem as you. I have a boy and I know of at least 5 baby girls born in the last year and no boys. Oh and I guess I am going to have to put a lock on his windows when he's a teenager (just joking of course... safety first )

I think whatever you choose to do.. Consistently is key! Good luck

Welcome back jjh1119, its not the same around here without you! But I completely understand needing to step away from technology. I left my phone at home while we went for a family walk yesterday, and it was liberating. I'm one of those people who is constantly on my phone but not for fun reasons like checking the inter webs, I'm constantly managing work email. So stepping away is a beautiful thing sometimes. songbirdsinging55, glad to hear you're getting your MIL in check, sounds a little painful but needs to be done.
LO has been sitting up on his own these days. I'm loving it ... I can set him in his PNP with some toys and get a few things done. It's been great. This morning DH suggested I lend our mammaroo to our neighbors who just adopted. Its a little sad for me to see it go, but LO really doesn't last more than 10 minutes in it anymore. Plus it will be nice to get some floorspace back.
Lastly - I'm seeing a lot of new names, welcome! Has there been a new TB insurgence or have I just been oblivious?
Aww, I feel all the warm fuzzies. Thanks for the welcome back ninergirl52, zengal
So, I got a shit ton of work done today and went to Target. I went for new nipples, formula, and another mesh feeder. I got all that, plus a new sit up play wall, textured balls, one of those "dr office" toy things (like the loopty loop thing?), 4 pairs of shoes for mama, a pair of adorable shoes for Liam, a new outfit for Liam for our family pics, the inflatable duck tub, and a light jacket for myself. So like, only 200 dollars over budget. DAMNIT TARGET.
It was glorious to just take my time and walk around and look around. Thankfully its wedding season! So, I can spend a little bit more
npg1982, I think consistency is key. I'm not really a follower of any specific method. But I definitely don't rush in there the second he makes noise. If he's awake and talking/babbling/"eehh ehhing" I don't typical go in there. If he cries, I'll go in. Loud shushes usually work for us. With a hand on him rubbing his back. It seems to work for him. Good luck!
kfaye, It's so weird that he grew 8 inches from birth to 4 months and then barely gained an inch from 4-6 months. he gained like 10 or more lbs in the first 4 months too. He is just not starting to get too long for his 9 month sleepers. I really think he will shoot up soon. I'm sure it's the same for your LO. If the Dr isn't concerned, I'm going to try not to be.

Target will suck money out of a wallet so quickly without realizing it.
So I'm know I'm late to the game but I'm finding myself hooked on Married at first sight. I'm watching it on demand. I also 90 day fiancé in my future.
This week was super hectic but I've been reading and hearting as much as I can. jjh1119, glad you're back! I was going to ask you about treating ezcema but you've already answered it! I mentioned this in the solid's post but LO now has some ezcema on her foot. It's really sad bumps. I'm wondering if it's food related since it just popped up since we started solids. Luckily she's not bothered by it.
ninergirl52, yes, lots of new faces this week! loving it!!
As for sleep - yes x100 consistency is key. LO has been putting herself to sleep for a while now and has just started to put herself back to sleep in the MOTN (SOMETIMES VERY RARELY IT WILL PROBABLY END TONIGHT AND NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN). In the beginning we would lay her down with a bink in her mouth and one in her hand and she'd fuss a bit. Every two minutes we'd go help her get her binky back in and rub her back and leave again. I used to call them two minute drills. Now she rarely cries or needs help getting the bink back in. She does need help re-binking when she's sleeping.
But ultimately, you all do you and what works best for your family!
pixie523 good luck with her eczema. As long as she doesn't itch it should hopefully stay contained. I swear by the dml lotion but I really really want something a little more natural to work. I'm going to the hippie store soon to see what she suggests. Gotta go through what we have first since it is mucho dinero
jjh1119 I know exactly what "doctor's office toy" you're talking about lol.
I was at Target today too. I REALLY need some new clothes but it was impossible to look with LO with me. I would need to try things on, and I just DNW to do it with her there haha. I'm going to wait until DH has some time off to watch her. But I did buy 6 rolls of colored duct tape! Haha. We're going to be moving soon and I want to do the thing where you color code all the boxes to know which room they go to. Everything else I bought was boring groceries.
pixie523 DD is starting to put herself back to sleep in the mornings now! She'll fuss for a couple of minutes and then fall back to sleep for another hour. GLORIOUS!
