Let's talk about Induced Lactation again....

Who's doing it?   How's it going?  Protocol?   Where are you at? 



I'll start.

If Rocky 3 sticks around and becomes our Rainbow baby I will probably do this.   I wouldn't have thought I would do it before, but I made SO much milk after losing T&C that I don't actually anticipate it being too hard a task to re-lactate for another.   When I was dripping ounces of milk at the time, I figured it could be looked at as a gift that T&C had given a future sibling, so I want to do it for that.... I don't feel comfortable carrying a pregnancy, but I was really good at making milk so I'm hoping to tap into that again. 

It's still early, so I don't know what protocol we'll do, probably the Newman protocol, but I don't think I'll start anything until we get closer to the point of viability for Rocky 3.  We don't have coverage for a breast pump through our insurance either so choosing whether to purchase or rent one will be a big consideration for us as well.

I don't have any advice just support! I wasn't able to produce so this would have been awesome had DW been comfortable with it. Either way big hugs and support as well as positive vibes for Rocky 3!

I also don't have tips, but sending lots of support! I think this is great!
I also really struggled with my supply, and eventually had to give up BFing/Pumping when my supply dwindled to pretty much nothing on its own.
My wife has said she has some interest in potentially inducing lactation next time around (I will be carrying again), and I would totally love/support that. At any rate, for now I will be sending you and others lots of support in this area, and in the future, I might steal your pointers for my own family!

I just weaned from Induced Lactation. I followed the Newman Goldfarb protocol and was able to produce enough milk for me to help breast feed him for 8 months. My wife is still bf him and will continue to do so because we want her feeding baby #2.
We met with a lactation consultant a few weeks before R was born. She helped us set up a feeding schedule since we had 1 baby between 4 boobs. The first few weeks/months it was important for my wife to establish her supply since we knew she by default would be the primary feeder. I bf during this time too but we used me as a "top off" mom and when he was needing comfort feedings.
For us, this worked out great. We both couldn't imagine having to be the sole breast feeder. It's a lot of work and it was so nice for us to pass the baby back and forth between us. It didn't matter who did bedtime or who got up in the middle of the night since we both could feed him. We also know we both lucked out with great milk supplies and a baby who knew exactly what to do at the breast. We never had an issue switching off.
I loved bonding with him this way. Since I didn't carry, it was nice to have a seat at the table when it came to feeding him. I am so glad I did it. It took more dedication and drive than I thought when I first started the protocol, but there was definitely a pay off for me.

I'm also interested in this. I suggested this to my wife when I was carrying our twins, but she really wasn't interested.
Interestingly, when I was carrying, one of the things I really imagined in the future was breast feeding - I really wanted to do it. I'm very much NOT feminine, so I was shocked to feel such a draw to something inherently female. If we get pregnant with one of our remaining embryos, I want to try breast feeding, whether I carry or not...
The first time I heard about this was from my mother - evidently she wanted to do it when she adopted my older sister, 40 years ago. She didn't, but always regretted it (and I think it was pretty uncommon then).
