I had DD in underwear last night for about 1 1/2 hours. She sat on the potty a few times, but didn't go. She didn't have any accidents. When I put her diaper on for bed she peed right away. I had her in underwear this morning and she had an accident. She didn't want to put underwear back on. I really have no idea what I am doing when it come to PT'ing. I've been texting my SIL's to arrange a trip for DH and I to visit them in Miami this month. We decided a zoo trip is in order. We just need to set the dates.
penguin129 I just started by offering to let them sit on the potty (before bath, between changes) and wearing underwear periodically. I sort of followed their lead when they were sitting on the potty and having success occasionally. If she doesn't want to wear underwear then I wouldn't push it. I'd keep them in a drawer where she can see/have access to them.
DS has had an upset tummy since Monday. He has been going 5 times at least each day and wants to sit there for at least 20 mins each time. Last night he sat on the potty for over 30 mins and cried saying his tummy hurt but other than that hasn't been acting like he's in pain. He hasn't had a fever. I'm sort of at a loss.
ashiscute I hope your son feels better soon. Poor guy. I'm not pushing the underwear on her. When she pooped in her diaper I asked if she wanted underwear on. She said no, so I put a diaper on.
forevermorgan, Maybe you can try some drop cloths...kinda like painters use. It could cover the carpet and the furniture!
penguin129, I have no idea how to start potty training either and we are going to start next week. I was actually thinking of taking her to try every 20 minutes...I'm glad to know it worked for someone! I haven't actually bought her real underwear yet, I got the gerber training pants to see how it goes.
It feels pretty humid today IMO, but supposedly it is only 50% (and just over 80 degrees). It isn't bad if I am not very active, but today is a fairly active day. I am not a hot-weather person. I think I handle the heat so much worse since having LO. I am perfectly happy with it in the 70s. I know in drier places, a bit hotter can still be comfortable, but I just don't see the appeal of hot and humid places at all.
I'm cranky because I am getting hit with another nasty migraine (4th in 4 days). I think that is probably why I am hating on the weather so much this afternoon.
I'm pleased with the progress I have been making so far today on stuff I need to do, so I hope I can keep with that pace throughout the rest of the day.

What is the age typically to start potty training? DD will be 15 months on Sunday and the thought of potty training ever terrifies me haha. With #2 being due in November I thought about waiting until after to start.
younglove316, it varies so much by kid. Some kids show interest around 1.5yo, while others still have no interest at 3.5yo. I personally prefer to follow their lead but encourage and discuss and whatnot to point them in that direction. In your situation, unless she is asking to use the toilet or potty chair, I certainly wouldn't try to push it at her age yet, especially with another LO on the way. I wouldn't discourage if she asks, and I would have the topic out there for her to get an understanding of, but no reason you need to push her into it anytime soon. We went a LONG time with having the toilet ring and a potty chair out, letting him observe us using the toilet, letting him flush if he asked, letting him sit on one or the other if he seemed interested, etc. He had peed in the toilet more than a handful of times over the course of at least a year to a year and a half before he was actually ready to PT.
ETA: When we did eventually get to the point of PTing, it took me by surprise. Then, even with his SNs, it was shockingly easy.
ashiscute - Thanks for asking. His official diagnosis was Heat Exhaustion, which is ironic because he works in a refrigerated warehouse where temps are 35 year round. He went to the doctor yesterday whining about not feeling good and the doctor actually told him to suck it up and get back to work. I'm just glad someone else said it. He came home all upset that the doctor would talk to him like that but he went to work. Thank God!
I'm glad that he's okay. Hopefully he feels better now that the doctor told him he's fine. My H infuriates me because he never thinks the kids need to go to the doctor but if he sneezes 3 times he goes to see the nurse practitioner at his work. I do not have the patience for his weakness.
younglove316, My DD is going to be 2 next month. One of the big reasons I think we're ready to potty train is because she has been taking her diaper off when it's wet. Yesterday she asked me for a drink and by the time I got back, the diaper was off and she got the wipes and was trying to wipe herself. On the other hand, my best friends DD is 2.5, but she isn't interested in the potty at all.)
