Thank You Gift for SW?

We will have to be meeting our SW soon for our 2nd after placement appointment and we have to meet down at the office.  The first one she came to our house like a week after we came home with Ollie, so I didn't have time to prepare anything for her then.  But now that it's been 2 months, I think it is time we get her something.  Any suggestions?  Not really concerned with cost right now as I just want to find something that shows how appreciative we are. TIA!

Just to clarify: for the SW?

We gave a TY note with a picture of ds after the adoption was finalized. I suppose it was a bit different for us because it was a long, drawn out foster care process. I still send a Christmas card with picture.

I am not sure I would do more than a card, especially if she is doing any sort of post-adoption reports on your family. With us, we have to do post-adoption reports for five years after placement, all with the same SW. We'll give her a thank you card and send photos, but because of her continued position as someone reporting back on us, I'd refrain from gifts personally.

It may be different for you and your agency, though. Maybe call the head of the agency and ask what is appropriate/allowed?

She may not be allowed to accept anything. I'd do a heartfelt note or a recommendation for someone adopting

I think it's very nice for you to think to do this. I agree about a heartfelt thank you card. Maybe if you want to do something more, then cookies, brownies, or something home made with no real monetary value.

I agree with the others. Our social worker had been working with us since 2008 (two adoptions, each with four years of postplacement reports due every six months), and still had never even affected a glad of water from us.
