Hi there,

New guy here. My wife and I started trying Last November. Obviously thought we would be pregnant by now but I am learning more each day. My wife is awesome. We are total opposites and it works for us. Any who figured I could start looking around and learn more about myself and being a dad.

I like to stay positive and not give up on the process. Though it can be frustrating for her every month don't really want to give up. She doesn't need another negative person telling her its probably better to we should stop. I have a younger brother who is 7 years  between us so I have some experience and remember alot.

People are saying give up? Sorry to hear that. It's been 7 months. It's not uncommon for it to take a year. It is frustrating with each negative test though. You all charting and temping it just letting the chips fall as they may? There are pros and cons to both.

No people are not telling us to give up, my wife just gets that way sometimes. Yes we are charting and temping.

My wife and I both got that way after a bit. Charting and temping gave this false sense of "just do this and bang, pregnant". I think at first it felt like we were in control and it was good for morale as it were, but after a while we were second guessing ourselves. Like if we were doing what we were supposed to do and no BFP something must be wrong with one or both of us.

yeah that is the seems to be the mentality but we will stay positive and keep our hopes up. It hasn't been ya year yet so checking issues will be around the 1 year mark. Plus we are trying to keep it quiet. I think people make to much of a deal that you are starting to try. Its a common occurance and we really don't want to the publicity. We lived with people together for almost a decade and we just want stuff to ourselves for a change.

I agree, TTC is something pretty intimate but often neighbors, co-workers, etc try to probe and insert themselves (no pun intented) into your personal life and then give unsolicited advice.  Okay maybe that is not your exact experience, but it is certainly my own!  Best of luck to you and Welcome to the forums!

Just my .02 cents--

It took my wife and I over a year of TTC before it worked out for us. Actually probably closer to 14 or 15 months. We were right to the point of setting up appointments for us each to get checked out, but talking about doctor appointments seems to have been the trick for us.

It can definitely get trying and frustrating month-to-month seeing the negative test results and wondering what needs to be done differently etc. but honestly you have to try to just trust your gut in my opinion. Personally, I was hesitant to start diligently charting and temping because I felt that would put a false sense of assurance in our heads and just lead to bigger disappointment if that month didn't work out. I know she was secretly keeping a pretty close eye on her ovulation schedule and so-forth, but I just didn't want it to be totally turned into a chore rather than an intimate experience between us.

I think we have made a pretty good balance on it as well as timing. Life gets in the way too between getting sick, hurt, work, etc.

It took almost two years for babygirl to be conceived. Eventually we just adopted the attitude of see what happens instead of stressing about it. I think it helped the whole process be more enjoyable and less like a chore.

It was hard each month when it didn't happen but when I stopped expecting it (bfp) I became less disappointed and thought well it will happen when it is right.
