I said I'd "never" get a video monitor but now that the time to move LO from my room is near I'm super anxious about not being to see him. He liked to roll on his tummy and face plant. Anyone have a monitor they love or any to definitely stay away from? Thanks!!
We have the motorola for both of our kids. I like it a lot. I don't always have the screen on, but when I want to see them for my own comfort it's definitely handy.
It has the talk back feature but it sounds garbled to me and the one time I used it with DS to let him know I was on my way to get him it freaked him out and he burst into hysterical tears. I no longer use that feature. Also, I wanted a video monitor that didn't connect to wifi, which is part of the reason we got this one.
Me too. This is after I had to return two different Motorolas. Terrible customer service. It sucked, because I really loved that monitor, but they broke the same way each time, so we gave up. Summer infant is working well!
I actually use my old iPad and iPhone with an app (I think the name is Baby Monitr, or something). The app was only $5. But I only use it for naps bc LO still sleeps next to me in the PNP. Eventually, we will move him to his room, but it's on the other side of the house. When the time comes, I'll probably try out the cheap iphone/ipad system and upgrade to something else if needed.
I have the Babies R Us color monitor, and I don't really recommend it. This one
It gets the job done, and the image is clear enough for me, but my complaints are: --The camera is hard to mount on the wall or wherever you're trying to put it-- it came with a set of anchor things but I can't figure them out for the life of me --It's basically cord-only (It says it has a rechargeable battery, but online reviews say this is basically a joke), which turns out to be inconvenient at times

We have a Motorola (the same one rbl has) and I really like it, though sometimes we have connectivity issues. (Though that's been less of an issue since we moved the receiver to hubs' side of the bed.)
DO NOT get the Summer Infant Wifi Link monitor. The iPhone app is bullshit and there's no other option for a receiver.
We had the summer infant and hated it. Now we have a Motorola and love it. The signal is much better and the picture clearer. I would recommend buying online from bed, bath and beyond. You can use a 20%off coupon, free shipping and they have an amazing return policy. We returned our summer infant one after five months with no issues at all. So if you get one and try it and don't end up liking it after a while you can always try something else.
I use the Motorola mbp36 and have not yet had problems in 2.5 years. We use the talk back feature now that DD is older to tell her to get back in bed at nap time but I think most babies find it terrifying. My must haves are pan, tilt, good night vision, and room temperature. Video monitors are awesome for checking if they're still napping since going in there invariably wakes them up.
We have a summer infant one and I have a love/hate relationship with it. I don't like that the camera has to be plugged in for it to be on, and the monitor's battery dies in a matter of hours if you leave it on, even without the video on. We had to buy another charger for it. But other than that I don't have any problems. I think we are going to switch to the iphone app one though. H works midnights and he wants to be able to take some peeks at DS to make his shift a little better

With this do you need to have a foscam camera or can you just use two Apple devices? In looking it up now to purchase since I'm back to work next week and would like to look in on her from time to time.
