I am debating if my DS should take a multivitamin. A family member of mine made me feel like a crappy mom this weekend because I don't give DS one. However, I have talked to two peds at his practice and they agreed that his diet is pretty well balanced and he does not need it. I've read conflicting articles. What have others decided and if you don't mind sharing, why do you or do you not use them? Thanks

We give Liam a multivitamin. I'm in the mindset of it can't hurt, so why not? I'm not super great at giving it to him though, he gets it about 5 times a week because sometimes I just forget.
I think part of my worry is I have a genetic condition that my kids could have but we won't know till they are older (wouldn't show up yet). It's not serious, but my body absorbs iron way too easily and has an oversupply. So I'm not allowed to take any vitamins with iron or vitamin c, and every kids vitamin has a lot of vitamin c. So I guess part of me worries that giving them could cause a problem.
Ugh I want a manual guys of all the right parenting decisions ... I'm feeling pretty defeated this week about not being good enough at making the decisions on my own.

I used to be really good about giving them to DS but his diet isn't the best and I wanted him to have more iron because he doesn't eat meat. Aubrey doesn't like the taste of them so she never took them. With the possibility of your kids getting too much iron I would just skip it. They are vitamins not miracle pills, they will help if your diet is poor but I wouldn't feel bad about not giving them. Seriously, what's up with your family? Did they ride the righteous train to your house?

Appearantly! I serve high fructose corn syrup, my kid gets formula because my boobs are obviously inferior, I don't give my kid vitamins, I didn't spend $50 for a small bottle of sunscreen... It's not usually like this so idk what the deal was. Her 2 year old was so naughty the whole time he was here and doesn't listen at all, so I wonder if the comments are because my DS is really well behaved most of the time and maybe it's her way of compensating. Who knows - you guys may get an earful of venting while I'm on vacation
We have the gummy flinstones vitamins, they are iron free! Emma can't have iron because of her constipation issues. However, we probably remember 10 times a month. Sometimes I use them as a bribe to get her to eat her veggies, because she thinks they are delicious.
We give Kayleigh the Flinstone gummies (without iron). Our pedi said we do not need to give her any vitamins though. She said kids this age don't need them and that vitamins are more or less for the parents' mindset. Even if kids eat pretty crappy (which at this age is a given), they get plenty of the vitamins they need in the little amount of food they do eat. Only if your child has been tested to show they have low levels (like iron) do you really need to give them to your kid.
I need to get Hanna back on them. She's not the greatest at eating veggies and this would be a way for her to get extra stuff. I got her the Target chewables and she would always beg for them which was nice versus a struggle. Not completely sure why, but my pedi recommended not doing the gummy ones.

We do flinstone's kids (I think they're for ages 3-4 so we break them in half) but they do have iron. She didn't eat meat for a while so that's why we started. She gets them about half the time.

We do Flintsones gummy's when we remember- probably 3 times per week on average. Our pedi recommended we do a multivitamin so we do. Dagny eats fruit pretty well but not veggies so that's why she recommended it I think.
