We use these all the time, and they are freaking amazing!!!! No, we do not have any troubles getting the lid on and off. Only once did I use one of those grippy things when it was screwed on really tight, but generally no.

Is there a temperature change at night that would make it expand or contract? Sorry I'm no help- We use a similar cup but a different brand.

I find most dippy cups are hard to get kids off if V has sucked them dry and has started sucking air out of them. Some of mine have handles still and I have to use the side of the sink and push the handle to get the lids off.

That makes a ton of sense- never thought about that! Lol
