June 5 was supposed to be my last day at work so I could have a week off before my edd to get stuff ready. Haha!
I couldn't sleep because I was stressing about what I wouldnt get done to close up my classroom. So at 3:30 am I decided to get out of bed and do some things on my laptop for work. DH doesn't sleep so he was just hanging out with me on the couch. At 4:40am I feel leaking, and I tell DH I think my water is breaking. Not totally sure I went to the bathroom to check if I was just randomly peeing myself. When it kept leaking I decided to call the dr. L&D called me back about 10 mins later and told me to come in. I then called my carpool, mom, & sister and took a shower.
We arrived at L&D a little before 6am and even though I was preregistered they still made me fill out paperwork. Ugh. They then brought me into the exam room. They verified my water was breaking and I was 2cm dilated. I was also contracting, but I couldn't feel anything. They brought me into the L&D suite, hooked me up to iv antibiotics (because I'm gbs+) and pitocin.
Then we did nothing... around 10am the dr came in and I was 3cm. I started feeling light period cramps. Then we napped... 2pm a resident dr came in and "opened" me up to 5cm. The contractions were getting stronger I rode it out a little, but then asked for an epi. I was told the epi would be there in 5 mins. THEN HOLY SHIT!!!!!
I started screaming in pain & told mh to get someone and tell them "ring of fire! Ring of fire! " they checked me again and I was fully dilated and therefore noooooooooo epidural!
The nurses & residents called for the dr and repositioned me to get ready to push. I don't know how long I pushed for, dh said it was not for long, it felt like forever for me. But all of a sudden my little team green turned team pink! (Dh I made a bet at 10am about the sex, he won.)
I don't really remember the pain during contractions, but I don't think I'll ever forget the feeling of her coming out- So strange.
Baby girl Josephine was born 6lbs 11oz and 20 inches on 6/5.
TLDR: Team green turned team pink way faster than expected!
