We have two dogs, one we rescued from the pound and one we bought from a pet store. I love both of them, but I would never again buy a puppy from a petstore. We were young, just out of college, with a lot of disposable income and we truly didn't "get" the whole puppy store thing. We spent almost $1000 on her (she's a beagle). I love her to death, but she's kind of an asshole! Our rescue dog is a lab/huskie mix and he worships the ground we walk on.
~tl:dr~ it's ok if you judge me, I kind of judge me too. But we will always be rescuing our dogs from now on. But I still love both of our dogs.
Sinny is a rescue. He was a sire for a breeder. Spent the first four years of his life being passed around in a pet carrier. Breaks my heart to think about it.
This is a UO, really, but I prefer older dogs and cats. I don't want to train a puppy, and they have way too much energy, so we will forever be adopting senior pets.
My FFFC - My dog is from a breeder, and if I were to get another shepherd after her, I would also go with a breeder.
I feel like with a dog that can be aggressive I want to be sure they weren't abused and possibly have issues because of that:
All dogs can be aggressive. My vet hates chihuahuas because most of them are maniacs. I think that I remember reading daschund's are the most snappy. Obviously, a chihuahua's bite won't be as traumatic as a bigger dog, but you never know. There are rescues that are breed specific and would work with you to make sure you don 't have an animal that is nervous around children.

MJ has a TON of health issues. She's blind in one eye, needs eyedrops twice a day, medication for her allergies and special fancy over priced dog food. She also has a huge scar on her belly thinking it's a C-section?

We got Louie (our English Bulldog) and Stella (our Boston Terrier) off Craigslist. Not sanctioned "rescues," but both were in situations that would have led them to shelters or worse. Pains in my ass...but I love them.

I wasn't allowed to get my driver's license until I learned how to drive a stick shift.
I'm good now, but I was a terrible driver at 16. I was so nervous when I went to take the behind the wheel exam that I stepped on the gas instead if the brake and almost mowed down a pedestrian. In the parking lot of the DMV. I'll never forget the look of shock on my mom's face when I told her I passed.
I miss driving stick shift. My dad required all of us girls to learn how to drive on a manual. The beater that Tim uses to drive to work everyday is a stick. We are looking to replace here in the next few months, but I don't want to forget how to drive one!
