Welcome to the check-in group for Pregnant After a Preemie! This group is also for those who are actively trying to conceive, planning on it, or simply thinking about it. Please list your name, due date if your pregnant or TTC timeline, preemie's name(s) and gestational age at birth as well as the reason for their prematurity.
(After this week we will have a section for last week's updates and announcements)

marajadeskywalker - DS was born at 31w 6d. They were never able to tell me what happened. Not TTC yet, but H and I are starting to think about it, but will probably wait until the late spring. How old is/was your first when you started trying for a second? DS is 13 months (11 corrected) right now

He was 2 when we started ttc and got pregnant. We actually got pregnant on our beach week celebrating his 2nd birthday haha they will be 2 years and 9 months apart which is what we hoped for.
I don't think there's a right or wrong gap though. I wasn't ready to try before then mentally!
Hey Phillygal34, is Punky coming over here? I saw you ask her on TB forum, just wondering if you got a response? I'd hate to lose contact with everyone with TB imploding.

DS was born at 35 weeks due to severe IUGR and pre-eclampsia. He was classified as a feeder/grower and spent 21 days in the NICU. Starting trying when DS was about 2.5. Currently 10 weeks. DS will be almost be 3.5 when this one is born.

DS born at 34 weeks due to IUGR and cord flow issues. Spent 2 weeks in the NICU. I had a MC in August. I am currently 7w3d pregnant and had an appointment today where we saw baby measuring right on track with a HR of 139! EDD is 9/11/15. I am already worrying about the possibility of having another preemie but trying to relax and stay hopefully for going full term.

DS1 was born at 32w3d due to PTL - never figured out the cause, same as you. We were insane and started trying for #2 when DS1 was 8 months old (6 adj.). We wanted them close together and my OB said the risk of having another preemie was the same no matter how long we wait to have another. We got pregnant with DS2 when DS1 was 10 months old. DS2 was born at 36 weeks so they are almost exactly 18 months apart. 2u2 was very stressful but will be worth it to have my boys so close in age.
It's totally up to you and what you can handle. There is no guarantee that you will have another preemie! I would assume you'll be offered the P17 injections. I took them and believe they got me an extra 3.5 weeks. Good luck with your decision. Whatever happens, you'll make it work!
DD was born via CS on May 24, 2013 at 33w 4d due to pPROM. She spent 24 days in the hospital.
I had a consult with an MFM on Thursday that included a scan. Everything with the scan looked good. But I'm not sure how I feel about the consult.
She basically left it up to me whether or not to take the P17 shots. She thought I was close enough to 34 weeks with DD and that it wouldn't make a difference either way. She said not to worry too much about the decision because it wasn't "life or death." She admitted she wasn't a fan of the shots. But she shouldn't bias my decision.
So I'm basically torn. Leaning towards getting them to play it safe but even my H doesn't want me getting them so I'm feeling a little unsupported.
Any thoughts, opinions, advice on the matter? From what I read on the place that shall not be named, it seemed like all reports re P17 were very positive.
I feel like I may have responded to you about this before, but I can't remember. Ignore me if you've heard my story!
DS1 was born at 32w3d due to PTL and pProm. I got the p17 shots from weeks 17-35. I had DS2 at 36w0d due to PTL. I really think the shots helped give me the extra 3.5 weeks. They left me very itchy and bruised, but they weren't all that painful. We are planning to TTC#3 this summer and if we are lucky enough to have a 3rd, I will definitely take the shots - no question. They are expensive if insurance doesn't cover them, so that's something to consider. You need to arrange to get the shots - most OBs will let your H administer at home, rather than going to the office. Some insurance companies will send a nurse to your house. Good luck with your decision!

Hi! DS was born at 32 weeks but was the size of a 28 weeker due to IUGR and cord flow issues (velementous cord insertion). He spent 2 months in the NICU but is now almost 3 and doing awesome! He's had 5 surgeries since he was born but we're hoping none in 2015!
We've been TTCing #2 since Sept '13 with no luck. I see an RE and this is my second round of IVF (first round yielded no eggs and eventually converted to IUI... this round converted to getting pregnant the old fashioned way!). I'm currently in the 2ww with betas next Friday, but I don't hold out much hope. We'll probably be doing IVF round 3 as soon as my period shows up! My RE has high hopes for the next cycle... I hope he's right!
TTC'ed #2 for 2 years DOR, AMH = 0.24 November 2014 - IVF #1 converted to IUI - BFN January 2015 - IVF #2 converted to TI - BFN March 2015 - IVF #3 finally made it to ER. 3dt of one embryo - BFN June 2015 - IUI with new RE - BFN August 2015 - surprise non-medicated cycle BFP!!! EDD: May 2nd
