Looks like I picked the wrong week to ....

Get off my antidepressants. 

I've been weaning off my zoloft for the last month and Monday was my last day. It was also the day I had my thyroid tested after talking with my doc. I still haven't met with him to talk about the results about the latest round of tests, but the numbers I got back today seem to me to point towards Hashimotos -- as I had a really high # of antibodies that attack the thyroid which is a very strong marker for it-- alongside my high TSH.

I know a side effect of going off of Zoloft is weepiness. I also know that one of the side effects of Hashimotos is miscarriages. I had one of those right before I had DS2. I've spent the afternoon weeping about that and weeping about how lucky I am to have two healthy kids. 

Now I just want to start this new round of meds to see if it will make me start feeling like old me again. And I am ready to stop this weepiness and also the feeling that someone keeps reaching into my head and shaking my brain a tiny bit  (Thanks Zoloft).

Thanks everyone. One foot in front of the other. And that GIF was perfect because I am totally an awkward hugger, so it made me laugh.

I'm focusing on the positives - like this will probably be the last week I ever spend without any medication in my system. And that maybe there is a magic little pill that will make me feel enormously better.

Thanks everyone. I would also like to add that despite everything I am truly grateful to CBT -- because DH was out of town today for a fun thing and he felt bad because I was home with sick kids all week and needed to catch up with work. So thanks to CBT I am able to focus on the fact that he was trying to help by getting my kids' teenage cousins to come down and hang out with my kids (Yay!) but then suggesting that I take everyone to the local indoor play land and try to work in the snack room while the kids play.

And while I tried to blow it off and hint that maybe the cousins did not want to go to said play land either, they confided that they had been really excited about going as well. And it is a bit too overwhelming for DS2 still at this point because there are so many people and big kids, and I don't feel comfortable leaving him all alone there

But really there is nothing that introvert me loves more than trying to get work done in the middle of a crappy weather weekend filled playland with kids running all over creation and screaming at the top of their lungs.

CBT has taught me to take a deep breath and not pounce on him the instant he gets home and to instead focus on how happy I am that now the kids are sleeping very well. And while I didn't get much work done, everyone seemed to have a good time.

So there are good things to come out of this. But also, he's not home yet.
