Mixture of both. I have tried most generic things, but if it isn't as good as brand name, I will buy brand name. Plus with sales, at least where I shop, the difference in price isn't too big.
ok this totally depends on the product and who I am buying it for. When it comes to clothes, handbags etc - brand name for myself for the kiddos and DH - doesn't matter. DH and I are total bargain shoppers for the kiddos and in fact I don't think i have ever paid full price for any of their clothes/shoes. Food and grocery items I buy generic brand unless I know the generic sucks. DH likes to joke that we save so much money on everything for the house, kids etc that its ok to splurge on stuff for me
I should add....I use Target's Cartwheel App and it rocks.
On items like paper towels, napkins, and laundry detergent I could use less expensive brands without issue but H likes his Tide, Bounty .... Etc
Clothes - for myself I do buy more nice stuff because I feel I am older and take care of them and they last. LO is target for daycare clothes and Carter's for fun nice outfits
Grocery store is a mix - I have no issue buying store brand cereals, cookies, crackers
Good question. I tried to think of a good question to list myself but came up blank.

For grocery items I buy brand name. For clothing for the kids, usually a mixture of Carters and Generic brand. For me and H for clothing, mostly generic.

I buy a mix of both when grocery shopping only because there are certain things DH won't eat if not brand name. I'm slowly changing that though.
Clothes are mostly hand me downs, but when we do buy them for DD they're mostly brand name. I'm not too picky for myself on clothes. I just really go with what's on sale.

I'm probably 75% brand name with 25% generic mixed in. DH and I need to buy tall clothing so that limits a lot of what we can buy to brand name. For food, it all depends on the taste. If it tastes good, why not buy generic? We buy lots of our local Wegman's brand products and are usually happy with them. Toilet paper, paper towels, etc end up being brand name a lot of times because we buy them wholesale and use coupons to get a lower price
Both. I am an ingredient reader on a quest to switch everything to healthier products, so that is number one for me. If the ingredients are alright, I go for the generic. When it comes to meds...it sometimes matters. Meds with a narrow therapeutic range (such as thyriod meds), always go for the name brand if you can afford it. The formula will be the same every time so it will be easier for your doctor to find the best dose. Generics only have to be close, so you may be getting a high dose one month and a low dose the next which can make it very tricky for your doctor to keep you in the correct range. Basic OTC meds, as long as the ingredients pass my approval, I use generic.
Both. I'm probably about 50/50 with both clothes and groceries. There are some things I only buy name brand (toilet paper, kleenex, detergent) just because I tried the generic and didn't like then as much (and because I can't switch detergent with DH and DS - their skin is really sensitive and they break out if I switch).
Groceries - mostly generic. If the brand name is on sale we buy it. Name brand for deli meat, bread, soda, coffee, teas, and cereal.
Clothes - I am thirft store junkie. I get all brand name when I go to the thrift store. Most of DS clothes is from the thirft store. I need petites so I spend more because I need the clothes to fit. Shoes brand name only.

A mixture of both. Dairy? All tastes the same to me so that can be store brand. I don't get cheap on toilet paper or baby wipes but I will use store brand diapers. Pantry stocking? generic is fine. I don't do periods but if I got one, I would not be using store brand tampons. Bottled water? store brand.

I'm a mix. I'll buy Arm & Hammer brand name items because of my family's skin sensitivity. Store brand for the pantry but for main ingredients are name.
Both. We have allergies and DH is picky so if we find a brand we can use that he likes we tend to stick to it. I have been trying to buy healthier, my store has a store brand organic line. I buy a lot of it. So probably 50/50. everything else I buy on clearance or at least on sale (except sometimes shoes)
Almost always generic. The grocery store I shop at has excellent quality generic products, but either way, I'm too poor for brand name stuff all the time.
