I have never heard of a MW that is that nonchalant about a birth. Also, if the MW unwrapped the cord from around the baby's neck, I'd fucking be grateful! I tore as well as part of my birth process as well, and didn't complain one bit. It sounds like a bit of a stretch to me.

I've experienced NHS midwives, and they're amazing. I'm lucky to live by an exceptional hospital, even though it's understaffed, they were all amazing. It's either a troll or someone with that horrible British mentality to complain about the overworked hospital staff when you're paying zilch for the service.
ETA: even if she has the bad luck of going to the worst hospital in the country, if she was in labour she would not be put in a ward. She'd be delivering in a private room, without the 30 screaming women.

I'm stuck on that part just because I was in labor for almost 24hrs with my 1st and 12 for my 2nd and there is no food allowed. Only ice chips. I remember being starving!

And I also tore badly but I'd be happy as shit if the mw was able to get the cord off my baby's neck.

Perhaps, but a small area wouldn't have 30 women pregnant and delivering at the same time, the odds are against it.

Re: Food during labor

Because I tested StrepB positive, I was given a "window" of 14 hours to go into labor on my own after my water broke. When it became clear that wasn't going to happen, I sent my husband out to the deli nearby for a bacon cheeseburger and fries. It was good, and I was glad to have it, but not amazing. Then I remembered--that place is a Jewish deli! Of course their bacon cheeseburger sucks. Why, oh why, did I not get the Reuben!?! (hoping to deliver in the same place this time; definitely getting the Reuben)

All to say: So glad I got to eat a good meal before labor got going. Can't imagine laboring for 20+ hours AND starving

You didn't see a pedi after 4 days for weight checks?  That is pretty standard in medical care.  But I've never seen a midwife, so I am not sure how that works.

That's what I understood her to mean too, like no one saw the baby. After my 1st only my midwife saw the baby for the 1st two months, but they are ABSOLUTELY qualified.

OMG I would have literally murdered someone for food during my labor. (Also 24 hours!)

Fucking ice chips...total BS.

However, I probably would have been to scared to eat anyway worrying that I would have a huge poop while pushing.

Thankfully I didn't eat, because I vomd right before it was time for me to start pushing. That would've been a waste of eating. I made up for it after dd was born and got a burger and a hero from a local favorite sandwich shoppe
