Another Newb in the House (child & loss mentioned)

Hi All!
I've been lurking your sexy asses for the last couple of weeks, and finally decided to take the plunge today. I'm an oldie from TB (vstevens), but I was mostly active in my BMBs. I'm still super close with my January 14 BMB on FB (J14 for life, yo), but since I am now pretty actively TTC it would be nice to have more new friends to go through this with. So, a little about me:
I'm 34, DH 33. We live in Brooklyn and have two children -- my oldest, Max, is turning 4 in August, and, just ripping the bandaid straight off, we lost our younger son James at 15 months old earlier this year. He was medically complex from birth, but he died suddenly and completely unexpectedly from a rare complication from a routine medical procedure. It is hard to explain what happened with J briefly, but his life was crazy and wonderful and terrible and full of love all at once. I did blog about it over the past year -- I'm not going to post the link like an AW, but if you care to Google PICU Mom -- that's me.
Before we lost J, we had already been planning to try for #3 this summer, and really we don't know what to do but keep moving. So, here I am. Trying temping for the first time this month, waiting for my CH any day (CD 10).
My favorite coping mechanisms include: faking it till I make it, cuddling and talking to Max before bed until he tells me it's time for him to sleep (he's so sensible), crying in my office with the door closed, drinking red wine, posting on J14, and doing a billion and one projects in our old Brooklyn townhouse (seriously, shit breaks all the DAMN time in that place). Also, growing a veggie garden for the first time this year -- why didn't anyone tell me that summer squashes take over your LYFE? NO MORE SQUASH.

Luckily, MH and I are connoisseurs of dark humor, which really is probably the best coping tool there is -- if you can laugh while you're crying, you'll make it through. That plus my love for beer = all the good parts of Irish heritage.
