I use the moby wrap. I haven't quite mastered the appropriate tightness of it (sometimes she droops a little and I have to fix it) but it is very helpful because she's been cluster feeding so I can just pop her onto the boob and do some things. But I've been in the same boat. I'm dying to vacuum but she has to be asleep for at least 30 minutes before she's asleep enough to not notice me putting her down.

We have the ergo 360....I'm waiting for my mesh infant insert to get here so I can start putting her in it. I have high hopes she'll love it and I'll be able to get lots of use out of it!

I love wrapping her, I wear her everywhere. This is a woven. It will last well into toddlerhood because it's not a stretchy. If you need something easier to master you can also try a ring sling or a mei tai. I have a ring sling also but I like wrapping her better.

Look-up Babywearing International on the off chance you have a chapter in your area - we have one and can check out different types of carriers from the lending library to see what works best without having to buy one. A lot of people like the K'tan and Moby wraps for newborn stage but woven and soft structured (SSC) have a longer lifespan (infant-toddler). We finally caved and bought a Tula as my close friend and several other moms in our area swear by them, plus it didn't hurt they hold their value and then some.

With LBB I loved the Moby at first. It's perfect for the teeny tiny stage. But it's warm, which wasn't a problem for an October baby, but not as comfortable for hot June days.
This time around I'm using my Babyhawk mei tai exclusively. The fabric is lighter, it's open on the sides for airflow, can be used without an insert, and easy to put on yourself.
DH has been using the Pikkolo, which is a SSC similar to the Ergo, but doesn't require the infant insert. We have the Ergo too and will probably switch to that next summer.
We have an ergo, but I'm waiting for LO to get a little bigger before we use it. I'm currently using the Maya Wrap ring sling and she hangs out in this thing quite a bit. She loves to be held constantly, and the ring sling allows me to get things done or have my hands available to play with my older DD. The Maya Wrap is pretty easy to use; I can't recommend it enough.

Look for a baby wearing group local to you on FB! A lot of times they'll let you try out various carriers to see which works best for you.
That said, I have an ergo, which I hope to use after the summer is over bc it's pretty warm, and then I've just ordered a K'tan Breeze, bit neither it nor baby is here yet.
I have friends who swear by their ring slings though.
This is us going for our maiden voyage around the block in our Solly Baby Wrap. Love love love. So much cooler, slinkier, and lighter weight than the Moby my sister had that I used with my nephew. I love wraps for little babies. I fully recommend a Solly. Have not tried my Sakura Bloom ring sling with my real baby yet but it was comfy with the weighted doll at my local Baby Wearing International group.
So I'm really struggling with getting things done since peanut is going through a "must be next to mom at all times" phase. So all you lovely mommas that baby wear, what type of carrier do you recommend?
My first I used a sling, that was nice but I felt like I always had to have a hand on her. Then as she got bigger I tried the eddy Bauer -sp? front carrier that was even worse. With my second I used a Moby that was amazing!!! I was able to use it all the time and be hands free it was great! I still have my Moby but I received a boba for #3 and it's so much lighter and stretchy. Baby loves it, I love it and I can nurse in it plus it's not as hot as the Moby.
Also with the Boba you don't have to worry as much about the tightness, because of the extra stretch.

A lot is going to depend on personal preference. I hated the Moby with DS and have tried it with LO but still can't get it quite right. LOVED my ergo with DS and have used it once or twice with LO and she seems OK in it but stayed awake. I just got a padded maya ring sling and have used it twice. LO loves it and falls asleep in it. I'm still getting used to it.
Also with the ergo I just use a rolled up blanket under LO instead of an infant insert.

I had a friend loan me a ring sling and she helped me try it out on Saturday. It was amazing! I was able to have most of the use of both hands for gaming while cuddling DS. I still need to practice getting him in there myself, but it's a start. It may be easier when he looses his newborn floppiness.
I haven't tried my Moby yet. If the current weather is any indication of the rest of the summer, it won't be too warm to use.
If you have a baby wearing chapter in your area they could def help. They should have a lending library which you pay like $5 a month I believe if you'd like to give a certain carrier a try. There's also a few groups on fb that are very helpful and informative. One of them being Babywearing 102.
I got an infantino carrier at Ross for cheap, it is a life saver. I used it when I went to target and peanut passed out. Also used it while H and I went grocery shopping which was a life saver!
I did this yesterday with the Bjorn that my GF gave us and it was awesome, LO = fast asleep the whole time. I saw a mom with a tiny new baby as well. She had the car seat in the cart taking up the whole thing and she was carrying the baby who was screaming. I felt SO BAD for her, she looked absolutely miserable. I saw her look at me a couple times and I just smiled a hopefully encouraging smile.
I think I am going to order the Beco Gemini from Amazon. It got really good reviews and is mostly 100% cotton. We have a gift card and credit on there so what the hell! The Bjorn is ok but it doesn't wrap around my waist so after 30-60 mins my back is killing me and she's not even 9lbs.
We have an ergo, I love it but it makes me so hot! Like dripping sweat. So I'm looking into some cooler options. I love Tulas but they are expensive for the ones I want. A friend suggested Lenny Lamb and I found a few I like that are woven. I wonder how much cooler they are?

Baby wearing is such a lifesaver! It lets you go out and actually do normal day to day activities instead of being stuck at home.

I'm definitely trying babywearing because E wants to be held all the time and I'm going crazy not doing things. We got a hand-me down Peanut Shell and Eddie Bauer SSC as well as a new Infantino Mei tai which I registered for and some DIY K'tans I made.
The Peanut Shell works but I don't love it and neither does LO. She seems to get kind of buried in it and sometimes fusses until I pull her head out of it. It's not super easy to get her in and out either, nor incredibly breathable. I was so excited about it at first because it was my first time babywearing and having hands was so wonderful but I quickly became disillusioned.
I tried the homemade K'tan next but I made them the wrong size I wasn't super clear on how to size them and messed up--LO is at the right height to nurse, but too low compared to where she should be and in the short time I wore it my back started hurting. I don't even think the loops were the same size, the sash was a little short, and I put it on in a rush so I don't think it was spread out enough. I just did it wrong all over.
I went to try the mei tai and got a bit scared off from the warnings. I'm still going to use it (excited to try a proper carrier, should work better) but it's in the wash right now, as is the Eddie Bauer because it smelled of scented detergent and I couldn't stand having it under my face.
@jemomma you can tie it on at home before you head out then pop baby in at your destination. I recommend a Solly wrap over the Moby as I've used both. The Moby is heavier and bulkier.

Is there a tutorial for this style of hold? I'd love to try it with my LO.
@jemomma which hold did you try? I found the kangaroo hold to be very awkward, so with this LO I went straight to the hug hold. I've never used another wrap so I can't comment on any comparison.
veggiemo I used the kangaroo hold. I thought it was the easiest so i just started with that. LO just seemed really awkward in it. Maybe i will try the other holds before i return it. Thanks!
Yep, try the hug and see if you like it better. My LO was definitely awkward in kangaroo.

Oh interesting, I'm glad to see this! I don't mind DD in the Kangaroo hold position, but I was wondering about the next position but didn't know if it was too early, I should try it though. She's a big baby and sometimes pops her head out this way, or sometimes I just feel like there's hardly enough room for her in there if I don't get it just right. I pretty much live in the K'tan!
