you can get retin-A way cheaper than that. I suggest going to a medical skin spa or dermatologist and get a microderm to get rid of all the dry dead skin. It's usually @ $150 for 45-60m microderm/extration. the esthetician will then be able to recommend what products to use.
I use a retin-a /hyaluronic acid combo and its not as expensive as pure retin-a, but still gets the job done (I've had it 6 months and am no where near going through it all). Also, you will usually only use the cream a couple of nights a week and a small amount, so the tubes can last a lot longer than you think they would.
eta: the combo I use mught be good for you if you have dry/acne prone skin b/c the hyaluronic acid helps moisturize.

Dumb question, have you seen a doctor about it? I had to go that route years ago for adult acne finally & it helped. It could be that you need to treat what's causing the acne- it may be a manifestation of something else

I use the clean and clear stuff with 10% benzoyl peroxide in it. My skin has always been terrible, but I found that helps a lot. We're only able to get it with 5% in Canada, so I always buy a bunch when I'm in the US
I use Clinique too and I have pretty bad skin too. Or Proactiv. But I know that dried out my skin so you may not want to use it either. But it definitely got my face gremlins to vanish
hammysmommy I used to go about every 6 wks, during pregnancy I went about once a month b/c it really helped my skin since I couldn't use so many products. Now, every couple of months.
I would say try to go at at the beginning of each season, after the weather starts to change. That is when I notice the best results since my skin is usually trying to figure out what is happening and the products that I need to use may change.

Breastfeeding wrecked my face. Like huge, cystic acne. I started using OTC retinol products - ROC multi-correction tinted moisturizer during the day & ROC multi-correction night cream- probably 2-3 months ago. It took about a month, but my skin started calming down. I had been using neutrogena pore refining face wash, but I think the combination of that plus the retinols was a bit too harsh. The past month I've been using The Body Shop's nutriganics foam wash and toner (they have salicylic acid) twice a day. For day I mix the ROC tinted moisturizer with the Nutriganics day moisturizer. At night I started using neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair because it listed retinol higher on the ingredients list than ROC, plus it had vitamin C (ascorbic acid), which helps with dark spot correction - something I need thanks to those lovely volcanos I had been getting with regularity. My face has really improved . I still get the occasional blemish, but they tend to be much smaller and heal much quicker than they had been. The dark spots are almost all faded now. If this trend continues I might be comfortable going bare faced in a few weeks.
I hope you find a routine that works for you!! I feel your pain
My face has almost done a 180 going from oily to dry. I never had to use moisturizer before and now it feels like my face will crack if I dont. Hormones and pregnancy did a number to my skin.
I agree with @elf828 about the brush. They're wonderful and I feel more confident wearing little to no make up.
I use the Vivite line. It had high concentrations of glycolic acid. Because of that, I was told it was only available from a dermatologist, but I've seen it on Amazon. I get mine from a derm.
