Sentimental Symbols ***Warning loss mentioned***

Now that our family is complete I'd like to have a symbol of it always with me.  Something I can always reference.  My DH got me a lovely birthstone necklace for Christmas, but it somehow felt incomplete.  Today he said he'd wanted to put a wren in the middle for me and then I realized that would have made it so much more right.  Wren is what I named our angel when we miscarried.

I've been looking for a way to get custom jewelry created, but the reality is that I'm hard on jewelry and don't want to feel like I have to remove it constantly to protect it.

So I'm considering a tattoo.  I'm a really conservative and private person.  I'm thinking of using white ink.  It will be totally symbolic, fairly small.

I want to be able to see it whenever I want, but not have others distracted by it.  Is there such a place on the body?  Oh, and I'm one of the oldest posters on this board, so skin is already saggy.

Also, it seems to me that a tattoo is only as good as the artist...so how do I go about finding a really good tattoo artist when no one I know in the area has a tattoo?

Am I just off my rocker and need to look in another direction for this?

I have no tattoo and can't help you out. I'd prefer jewelry, personally. I do think a tatoo relating to your kids is a safe bet though.

But this reminds me of a friend who miscarried. The baby was the size of a cashew at the time, so she had a cashew charm made and she wears it as a necklace. I thought that was sweet. Good luck

I love that idea. As for where you want the tattoo, do you wear a watch? If so, I'd put it on my wrist where a watch would cover it. And as for finding an artist, I can't really say since I go by word of mouth and looking at their work.

I agree with @nabyblues2114, wrist is great or the top/side of your foot. I would look at yelp and check out the reviews and I am sure there would be pictures too so you can see if their work is actually good.

I love this idea. If you do white ink the inside of your wrist would be a good place, not very noticeable but you can look whenever you want.

Word of mouth is how I find an artist, I have tattoos on my feet and lower back. I plan to get another on my rib cage one day. I am a teacher and find these places easily covetable/not a big deal. Buy kids love to discover the ones on my feet! It's funny every year!

I have a tattoo. ..on my back...kind of on my shoulder. I am also private and conservative. ..but it is perfect because most clothed cover it. So it only shows if I want it to. I love your idea!

Love the white idea on the inside of your wrist. It's there for you to look at and easy to conceal when you need to.
