A long time lurker, I finally figured it was time to introduce myself since our homestudy appears to be close to finalized. We are just waiting on the final copy so we can sign it and move on to the next phase.
A bit about us. My DH and I have a 2 year old son and have been trying since he was 8 months to have a second. I know that is not a long time for many, but we decided early on that fertility treatments were not the way we wanted to go, so moved quickly on to the adoption track.
We're based in Canada, so I'm sure some of the steps and nuances will be different for us than for some. We are pursuing Domestic Infant Adoption given that in our province the child through adoption has to be younger by 18 months than the youngest in the household. We are open to widening our search as our son gets older.
Life's been pretty crazy for us lately as along with the homestudy, we also bought a new house, moved and are getting ready for a two week road trip with a toddler. I was surprised that the evaluations didn't comment on our need for high levels of stress.
Wishing you all luck and peace on your journey to family. I'm looking forward to sharing our trials and tribulations as well as our joys and triumphs with everyone.
