The one thing that this article doesn't cover that I feel is important is personality type. Big job women are usually excellent multi taskers and thrive under pressure and need to keep busy. So it's not surprising to me that the type of personailty that would excel in the business world would also excel at balance with home life. I usually have a lot going on but I don't feel too stressed and I think I would be bored if I wasn't busy.
I am super thankful for my flexible work environment and that does make a huge difference for working moms.
I haven't read all the comments but I just wanted to add this doesn't feel like news to me. I feel like it basically said you can have it all if you make enough money. Duh! Women that make more money along with their husband - if he makes a decent living too - they can afford help. My friends that are like this have a nannies and on call babysitters. What about the women that still work long hours but are not in big money making jobs? Maybe I'm focusing on the wrong thing but that is all I could think of when reading this.

I think the article does point out a few things that are obvious, but I appreciate the honesty instead of pushing the false idea that some women can just "do it all". There are only so many hours in a day and only so much that any one person can do. There are always trade offs and this just highlighted some of the trade offs that group of women make to feel more balanced. I think you could ask each one of us on the board and we could list all of the trade offs we have made to try and find balance.
