DS was born at the the end of Oct so naturally we put him in a warm outfit to come home in. But what did you bring your summer baby home in? I know they'll be pretty little & need to stay warm but I don't want them to be too hot. Sorry if this is a silly question but it's one if the last things on my to do list
This is something I'm constantly thinking about chiwifey, so I'll be interested to hear what others have done. I have no idea how hot it will be end of July as England can be stupidly unpredictable, so I've packed a variety of things so far. I have short-sleeved bodysuits, leggings, full sleep suits (but normal cotton, not heavy), cardigans, and hats/socks/etc. I'll probably layer as needed. Probably a little OTT but I'd rather not stress about it if we should get to the hospital during a heat wave and end up leaving in Fall-like downpour and cold.

LO was born in December too so she had a warm going home outfit. I won't even get into the shit show that was her hormonal mother trying to get her dressed to go home
I am not into dressing babies up or doing anything fancy - just NMS.
Baby Girl will be coming home in one of these:
Baby Boy will be coming home in the blue and gray striped one:

Just for fun, I had this for LO:
My husband already said "Uh oh, LO had Ralph Lauren and these two don't!" I said be quiet, we can't afford two Ralph Lauren outfits anymore. Not that they're crazy expensive, I really just couldn't find much in a NB size I did want matching rompers but like I said, couldn't find any in NB size.

For the beginning of May, I had long sleeved onesies made, one with an attached skirt and the other with shorts. I would imagine for summer a onesie would be enough. I still need to take their pictures in them again before they outgrown them!

My DS was born just after Christmas, and dressed warm. My twins were born at the end of June (their birthday is tomorrow lol) and wore summer dresses. I did put a blanket on them in the van though, with the a/c on it got a tad chilly.
My girls were born at the end of August. They came home in a thin long sleeve/long pant pajama. And a warm blanket. I didn't want them to get cold in the car's a/c - the hospital is about 20-30 mins from my house, depending on traffic.
I have thin long sleeve/ pant pajama out fits. To bing them home. It's been really hot the past few weeks. But the hospital is super cold and with the AC on in the car and house it will be too chilly for them.

I live in the desert. It was 108* when they came home! We had them in little Burt's bees t shirts and diaper covers. We tucked Aden anais blankets around them in the car.
It wasn't super hot when we brought them home last week and we didn't want them getting too chilly in the car so we had them in sleep n plays and hospital hats. The hats we brought don't fit baby girl because her head is tiny!
My babies were born in early June. Little ones tend to run cold, I think, so we have them in long sleeve/long pant Carters one-piece outfits, but they were footless. We also had little crocheted hats for them so they kept their body heat better. I stocked up on Aden and Anais swaddle blankets for the hospital and home because they are breathable. I second what PP said about having a couple of options. My DDs were in the 5lb range and their newborn outfits were a bit big. I kept a couple of preemie things on hand (that I bought used so I could justify buying them to only use for a short time).
I have these outfits for them from Carters. It's mid to high 90s here, but the hospital, car and our house are all air conditioned. DS was born end of May and wore a similar style outfit.
