So I begin life as a working mom on Wednesday in an entirely new career. I've been a sahm for 2 years and this new career has a lot of flexibility where I will be able to stay home some days and work 4-12. It's going to be quite an adjustment and I'm slightly terrified. I still haven't figured out what I will do with my kids on the days that I work during the day. For now we have family helping but I'm just nervous about doing daycare only 2 days a week, does it screw up your schedule completely? I know this is all good for us but i literally got offered this job that I wasn't looking for and couldn't pass up. It all happened so quickly so I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.
It can all seem really overwhelming at first but you will quickly settle into a routine. I don't think the 2 days will be a problem. Our daycare has quite a few part-time kids who come either MWF or TTh and they do just fine.

I think my fear of messing up their schedule is getting used to one schedule at daycare 2 days then having our schedule at home. Honestly I think it's naps that scare me. We are finally at a great place where they're on a consistent napping schedule I don't want to ruin it. I know I'm crazy and they'll adjust and this is just my OCD mind talking

DS is 22 months, and he goes to DC 3-5 days a week, never the same days. I work a rotating days off schedule and DH has weekends off. DS loves going to DC and has no problem with a crazy schedule. Give it a little time and you'll get into a routine.

Oh! Hi!! I'm going back to work this week too! I've been a SAHM for almost 3 years now and my previous employer called a couple weeks ago basically handing me a job. I worked it out with them to work part time, which like, seriously, the stars seemed to align and it's just perfect for us now (maybe I won't be saying that once I start....)
But DS will be in daycare Mon, Wed, Thur. and then home with me for Tues/Fri. I'm not worried at all about his schedule, TBH we'll only be waking up about an hour earlier than normal (6 instead of 7), and they do naps at about the same time he naps now (1-3). I really think he'll thrive there and I can't wait to see what he comes home talking about
Don't worry too much, kids are way more adaptable than we give them credit for I think *hope* lol. So I just want to wish you good luck with the new job!! I hope we both have a great start back!
ETA Lol at all of my exclamation points. I guess I'm excited and I've just finished off a giant cup of coffee.
My DD is with Grandparents Tuesdays and Thursdays. She does preschool MWF. Every morning we tell her, "Yea! It's a school day!" or "Yea! It's a grandma day!" She does great. And yes, sleeps better at school than with her grandparents. Something about all the kids sleeping puts her in the right mood. Her grandparents are lucky to get a 1 hr nap out of her. She regularly sleeps 2-2.5 hours at school.
