For me....
A new job. Yes, I got a job offer!!!!!! Finally. A significant pay increase, 100% remote, and good benefits.
My BF got a new job today too!!! What's the odds? He's moving stores, so he will now be new car sales manager for the local Mazda dealership. I'm so proud of him!
My psychologist. She's invaluable. She's like my conscience. And a great listener. She picks up on the things I leave out and keeps me honest.
The End Anxiety app on my iPad. It got me through not one, but two panic attacks this week. Meditation works for me.
Coloring books. I have discovered coloring books made for adults. This week I've made progress in coloring several. It's a big stress reliever.
Safety, living in the South, my heritage as a Black female, and marriage equality. Im thankful for all of those things.
Today I'm super thankful to have the day off. I get to take my little buddies to art class. I'm totally excited. It's going to be a blast.
For the overdrive app...my commute would suck without you and your endless supply of audiobooks.
This rabbit that lives in our front yard. - every time my guy sees her he lights up like its the first time he's ever seen a bunny. It reminds me how awesome life is when viewed that way and prompts me to be more mindful about all things.
And for the dad who brought his son to my class yesterday. Or maybe I should say the kid who wanted to spend the day with his dad even if that meant going to a relaxation class. He was so happy to be doing what daddy was doing and was a great participant! Thanks Miles you totally made my day!
I'm thankfull my therapist is back from vacation and I can see her today. I had an awful night and am so happy to see her in a few hours!
I'm thankful I have Friday and the weekend off (I work in a 24/7 environment and recently got all holidays off and don't have to cover weekends anymore) and the weather is looking good so I'm going to be beach!!
runnergirl812 that is awesome news, congratulations! That is a great list too.
tjr42px What a sweet little boy! I need to find a munchkin yoga class to bring my boy to.
I always have a hard time with this... I will think of something and come back later.
It can be one thing. I can be simple. It can be ice cream.
I hope you find something today to be thankful for and that you have a good one.
Thanks. I feel like I'm always inclined to put a negative spin on it. Like, I'm thankful for coffee because I'm freakin tired today. I did think of one though. I'm thankful I'm seeing my new therapist today. My appointment wasn't until Aug but they put me on his wait list and called me with an opening yesterday. Who knows if it will work out with this therapist but at least I'm taking steps in the right direction, and now sooner rather than later.
@rocknrollfriend GL with the new therapist! I hope it works out for you!
Thanks, it went really well! He's totally action oriented and gave me lots of homework. We set up several more appointments over the next 3 months. It feels great to have a plan!
This is awesome, y'all! I'm so glad we have this thread to focus on the wonderful things we are blessed with in life. I know it gets all too easy to get down on ourselves when dealing with mental illness, but I love that we can acknowledge the good in our lives as well. Hugs to all!
I am thankful for:
This board. I really feel like people are trying to empathize and genuinely help me throughout my struggle instead of judge me.
Speech therapists/pathologists. I am fortunate that my DD can go on a weekly basis so that she can catch up with talking like her peers.
My upcoming vacation to visit my mom. I cannot even describe how invaluable she is to me.
I'm thankful for my friends. My IVF cycle was cancelled yesterday and I was (am) crushed. After I got the news I ran into two of my friends. They were so wonderful: sat with me, rubbed my back, held my hand, validated my sadness, distracted me with gossip, and then convinced me to go out to dinner (which kept me from spending the whole night crying on the couch). I am so lucky to have such supportive friends.
I am also thankful for my therapist, who has taught me a lot of techniques for managing my emotions, and for Zoloft. Both these things prevented me from having a panic attack yesterday, which for sure would have been my reaction if this had happened two months ago.
I'm also thankful for TCF and having a safe community to post about my IF journey and get support from people who understand.
Finally, I'm thankful for this thread, for making me think about the positive aspects of a difficult situation.

I admire your ability to have this mindset after experiencing such disappointment. I'm so happy your friends and therapist are here for you. ((Hugs))

I work in a 24/7 environment as well so I know how hard that is! I was also able to get Friday and Monday off giving me a 4 day holiday weekend which I am thankful for!
Glad to hear your therapist is back!!! Hope you can vent to her and that it brings you relief!
Have fun at the beach! ☺️

That's awsome, it must be such a relief it worked out with him. I know this was a goal of yours for awhile so yay
I'm thankful for four days without smoking cigarettes even though I've been having awful cravings.
As always I'm thankful for my happy and healthy LO!
Congrats on 4 days! Not sure your methods for staying quit but "Stay Quit" is a great app to help support you.
Also, have you heard of or used a technique called urge surfing? It's about recognizing the urge sucks, but is time limited. The physiological urge last 10-15 mins but the psychological urge last longer...the thinking about the urge/craving.

Thanks for the suggestions! I never heard of either! Will have to check them out!
Disclaimer...not a medical doctor, but if you are prescribed any meds for psych symptoms it may be worth talking to your doc. Chantix, used for smoking cessation is just repackaged Wellbutrin. Exact same med, just different name targeted for different symptoms. It may help with staying quit and augment any other meds you may take it just help you quit. But the best long term cessation is with meds and classes (the app is the four evidenced based classes in mobile form).
