I know I haven't been around lately but I was wondering if anyone else still nursing their toddlers?
P has self weaned down to once a day at bedtime. I am due with baby 2 in 9 weeks. I'm torn between weaning her or just letting her wean herself since she has up until this point. WWYD? I don't want to tandem nurse but I don't want to wean her if she isn't ready. It's not like it's a big deal for me to nurse her once a day.

Meeeeeee! (waves) I only wish we were down to once a day. We're probably at 8 times a day still (!!) As far as should you give up the one time a day, how easy would your LO take it if you did? You could maybe shorten the duration of that one session bit by bit until it's gone? I remember I had to do that with DS, just made the times shorter until we were done. But both my kids fight it. They were/are nursing aficionados, I suppose

It would probably not be too bad but to be honest a lot of nights she falls asleep or gets super drowsy nursing and then she's asleep for the night and we just plunk her in her bed. So getting her to sleep will be an adjustment probably.

I agree. DD doesn't always fall asleep nursing, but she's gotten amenable to the idea of me sitting by the crib and holding her hand til she falls asleep.

Another toddler nurser here!! He falls asleep while nursing at night and his nap time. **hangs head in shame** Going to be a hell of a habit to break. We are down to twice a day unless his teeth are hurting really bad. (Like the last couple weeks) then it's been 4 times a day I wish I had advice for you

I am! LO nurses something like 4-6 times a day.
No advice on the weaning. I'm planning on giving tandem nursing a try if LO is still nursing when #2 comes, but we'll see if I still feel the same way in Feb.
My only concern with weaning so close to #2 would be that LO would see the newborn nursing and want to get back in on the action.

Im not but during my consultation with the lactation consultant when I had J2, she said no worries just feed both at the same time. I laughed at her. She showed me just in case J1 showed interest. One in a football stance and the other in a football stance on the other boob. Weird but you will do it for twins I suppose
I think I posted this on Facebook, but we just weaned 2 weeks ago. I dropped bedtime a few months ago with DH's help, so we were down to just nap time. Then last week I stopped nap time too. LO handled it better than I thought he would, and only asked a couple times. He did ask again a few days ago when he saw my SIL nurse my new nephew, but I just said "nope" and he didn't get upset. I would have kept going, but we are TTGP and not having any luck, so I figured this might help. We'll see!
